Well.
Shit.

It's not like the pictures were easy to find or anything. Most of the Pokemon pictures come from the 3d games or are just coverart, and most of the Rhapsody pictures are of the crappy DS version. I honestly don't know how you guys get your quality.
Hell, I can't find ANY Rhapsody pics that aren't JPEG. It's seriously evil.

There needs to be an internet-wide moratorium on using jpegs.

Usually Mobygames has good screenshots.
Failing that.... emulators?

Thanks, Shawny. I tried to avoid pics from the DS version, so I appreciate the other pic.

Pgil, finding PSX roms is a Sysiphean ordeal.

This, in my opinion, is how a game with outstanding pixel art looks.

Pretty much anything done by Lucas Arts that was a point and click is good in my book.

A good number of my favourites have been posted, but...

Terranigma (SNES):

Magi Nation (GBC):

Treasure of the Rudras/Rudora no Hihou (SNES):

Looks pretty much identical to FF6, but FF6 is a mighty fine-looking game! Also some pretty cool boss animations.

Magical Starsign (DS):

Alread mentioned, but I thought it needed more love. It's easily one of the most gorgeous games I've ever seen, pity the game itself is kind of dull.

FFT-A2 (DS):

Ys Eternal (PC):

Not sure how everyone feels about Ys here, but personally I thought Ys I & II Eternal looked stunning, even though pixel purists would probably have a heart attack since it uses like a jillion colours.

Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia (DS):

Lionheart is my personal favourite. 1993.

(Hopefully HOL allows hotlinks) (Edit: they don't.)

About as outstanding as pixel technique gets for games that actually exist IMO.

Whenever I stroll through the game section at supermarkets, I look at the shitty movie tie-in GBA games, and I go "I know this games sucks, but I can't help thinking the 'spriting is so good.'"
