Hi! I'm Jonathan, aka that ALPHA guy.

The project is simply creating a new gaming community using social media (e.g. facebook, twitter, youtube etc.) to promote / market new indie games that are in development.

Instead of searching out all the individual games for oneself, that ALPHA guy will promote them.

If any developers want to be one of featured games please just ask!

Have a look at the facebook page!

Feel free to critique, condemn, suggest, support, praise, laud.

Thank you

(EDITED FROM A HORRIBLY LONG POST - HOPEFULLY THIS IS MORE ACCESSIBLE)

p.s. This is not spam, this post is simply to gauge reaction from the community.

I'm a bit confused as to what you're offering. Are you trying to build a community? Or are you offering your services in marketing?

(Also, this probably belongs in Business.)

Can't judge it without seeing it.

The currently explosion of indies I thought mostly was driven because people were able to know exactly what was going on with development of projects and feel involved.

Which... you haven't done. Even a screenshot would help.

As I said, I was unsure where to post this topic.

The primary aim would be to create a new social media community i.e. Facebook, Twitter, Youtube etc. With a website to follow.

In turn it would act as a platform for marketing / informing the community about developing indie games.

As an example you can check out the Facebook page, it's been active 2 days and has 119 fans at present - http://www.facebook.com/pages/That-Alpha-Guy/355936921083253

Please note the idea isn't set in concrete, the beauty of social media is that it is easy to evolve an idea quickly.

Also please be critical, suggest ideas, dismiss ideas, post if you would be part of the community, if you would like your game to be featured etc.

A content driven community with a focus on feedback from the mass gaming community

I'm not seeing it. Have you ever read comments on GameTrailers?

ahaha, I take your point. Maybe mass gaming community is a little ambitious! To rephrase - attempting to make tracking games through development (from pre-alpha to release) more appealing to the mass market!

Not to condemn your laudable goals and intentions, but for someone trying to "promote" others, you aren't promoting yourself very clearly. I hate to jump the bandwagon, but... what is it exactly that you are offering? The Facebook page is empty and YouTube channel doesn't have any videos. I would at least expect a website link from a serious promoter. The devil's in the details.
