[Flugurion]

Hi!

We're a team of 2 currently developing a game called Mongrel, about a frog called Finch. This is our first game, which makes it very exciting for us but also easy to do dumb mistakes. With your feedback it will be easier for us to get better at this! So as long as it's constructive all feedback is very much appreciated.

Gameplay

Our core gameplay is something we put a lot of work into. Our main character has 4 different types of jumping, rolling, ducking/dodging, walljumping and he can use his tongue to attach himself to objects! But in metroidvania tradition there will be a bunch of interesting items.

Seeing the importance of having an appealing main character we also gave him 17 different expressions that will change depending on what situation he is in (laughing, smelling, smiling etc.). Hopefully this will give the player a more emotional connection to Finch.

I have seen this game pop up on reddit and twitter a few times. I absolutely adore the character design as well as actual pixel flair you've shown. The character reminds me so much of a badass version of Slippy Toad from Star Fox haha

Looks really good so far, and its awesome that you are including music in the development process already.  I think audio should get involved earlier, so its nice to see.
