I've been working mostly on the core of the game engine, making some tilesets. I finally made things work on the game engine.

I'm working again on the game itself. So I hope to have some stuff (screens and gameplay gifs) to show soon.

I will describe the gameplay

It will be an action battle system (ABS), like Zelda games.
I will focus more on action gameplay than on stats. That is the reason the characters will have only health points (those hearts like in Zelda).

There will be items you can use to equip your character. So, instead of stats to improve attack, defense, or anything else, you can use items. They will be very "plot-wise". By that I mean they will not be randomly placed on the map or dropped by enemies.

This game is turning it something more Earthbound-like than I expected

I decided the gane will not be placed only on your neighborhood. But now the characters will wander through different cities and places. I hope people like that.

Enemy spawn

There will be areas where you will find enemies appearing and areas where there will have no enemies. I'm working on the Ai to make the enemies stay mostly on these areas.

!!!You can switch characters!!!

Heve you ever played Secret of Evermore? That game where you can switch between the guy and his dog? Fun game, I recommend. On Ghouls in the Neighborhood you will be able to switch between the characters, play with them and use their unique abilities. The characters that you are not playing with will follow you and act by themselves (fight enemies).

About switching characters. Well, you will be able to switch between the four characters: the girl in red, the bat-girl, and two boys. One of the boys I'm making right now. The other is still to be done. Of course, it doesn't mean you will be with all four characters everytime during the journey. You will meet then during the journey and sometimes they will get separated so solve problems (but they go back together).

Here is something for you guys:


The movement is based on accelerations, and the result is a very smooth movement. Very important, because you can easily stop on diagonal. Useful when you want to shoot at diagonal Smiley



The blonde guy with glasses is probably one of the main characters. Still in doubt about the second guy. THe blue people are... evil.
