I also didn't have an stderr generated.  Do you know where I go on Windows to find the error?
You have experienced a crash?  Could you describe under what circumstances it happened (and, indeed, if you can get it to happen again)?

(in windows, if there wasn't a txt file generated when the program was executed, or an error dialog didn't pop up, then there's nothing)

Whenever I choose a level, the screen will go black for a second or two and then the program will exit, with no error message.  This has happened every time I've tried, including the custom levels.  I'm using Vista and a Crysis-capable graphics card, if that helps at all.

Okay, kneecaps, I have prepared a special build, it's HERE (267kb).  Would you mind copying it over the exist mirror stage.exe file and running it?  It should produce a stdout.txt file in its directory when you run it.  I guess, run it until it crashes, then report back to me with whatever is left in stdout.txt afterwards.

I'd be much obliged if you could...

Both those files appear to be in the ogg folder, though, so I'm not sure what's going on.

Hmm.  Could you try replacing 7.ogg with a copy of 20.ogg, and see what happens?

It works!

That's pretty weird.

Edit: I opened up 7.ogg and re-exported it from Audacity and it seems to work now.

It's not entertaining either, and is that not the purpose of games?

Hmm, I think it depends what we mean by entertaining. Is the Mona Lisa entertaining?

No, it's a wellpainted painting. And this game is pretty.

It is indeed. I'm just checking the archive integrity now...hmm...

at some point, could you try redownloading the whole thing and seeing if the same problem emerges? (the savegame file is stored in the settings directory, so you can copy that over)

there's a possibility that something was corrupted at some point along the line (just checked it, and works fine on my system though).

In that case, I disagree. Entertainment (in that sense) is not the sole purpose of games.

Well, true, it's not the sole purpose, but I'd say it's one of the defining things about a game. Whatever, I suck at arguing Tongue

Hideous, Benzido, if you want to talk about what does and doesn't constitute a game, I would really appreciate it if you did it elsewhere...

Redownloading seems to fix the problem as well, so... I guess it's just one of those things!

any errors left in stderr?

Not really sure what to do about this :/

seems like an sdl thing...will see what the internet has to say... (seems to say SDL isn't big on 64 bit support)

Nope, the error is literally just "Mirror Stage.exe - Application Error:  The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0150002).  Click on OK to terminate the application.  OK"
