Auditorium by jmickle
"I wonder what it means!" He shouts, as the actors on stage turn to face him. He betrays a sharp intake of air as he realizes his mistake.
Silently and clearly, he is disconcerted; stumbles out of the auditorium and doubles over in the alley.
The cold wind initially painful, reinvigorates him and he breathes it in with a determination never felt before. He brazenly opens the door and steps inside, brushes himself off and once again takes his seat.
He pulls his notebook out and strikes a line through the last item.

Super Bra Dog by author unknown
They were alone on his bed. She took off her bra.
The pressure was huge. They didn't know what to do.
And then a dog came in.

Momento Mori by Joseph Gribbin
"I'm sorry but the condition is terminal. You have at most 5 months."
Before the doctor could say anything else, John stood up and pressed his genitals against every single thing in the man's office.

Tea by Evan McClane Staring at the computer, the camera recording his every move, he quietly sips his tea.
"Everyone must see this," he proclaims. And so, it is put up for all to view, below his name every time he speaks to the distant audience.

Sketching a secret by jmickle
He crumpled his brow and bit his lip. Viciously stroking the paper with his pencil, intense concentration with every line. His wife looks up and questions the concept of the inscription he conjures, but he stumbles and pulls the paper to his chest. He splutters a thin strand of an excuse but it doesn't wash. An interrogating inquisition is injected and his insular regret is impounded.
She stands up, he throws himself in the direction of the door, the paper lands open on the floor.

Mao by unknown artist
Picked up my guitar case and thought "It's time to play some Em chords." Inside, I found a mystery note. It was written in crayons. "Come and meet me inside the fridge", it said. In the fridge I found my cat playing Counter Strike.

She sang. The birds responded.
He sang. The birds also responded.
The difference being that she wasn't torn to shreds.

Bad Apology by Joseph Gribbin
"I'm sorry" I said, "I didn't mean to do what I did. If only you could see it from my point of view."
This only made her wince. At least she was listening to me.
"I think I owe you an explanation."
"I don't think you do."
I sat there and thought about how much she valued the partially eaten sandwich left on the table. More or less than me?

Nort by me Nort loved his pet dog, even though he'd never tell anyone. If he had to choose one thing to take on a desert island with him he always fancied he'd take Ol' Pete (and then eventually fashion a coat from the corpse and use its meat for sustenance). Then one day, as they were in the park playing frisbee, he got struck by lightning. He was pronounced dead on arrival. His dog pooped in his garage, scratched its neck, was put into the pound, and after a month or so was euthanized.

A soaking wet stray pregnant dog has turned up on your doorstep, it is rolling around on its back, yelping, and you can see through the thin, distended skin of its belly a multitude of pups paddling about. Peering through the roiling amniotic fluids, churned by the foetal dogs, you begin to make out patterns and shapes of ill portent. Has this dog brought doom upon you?
(This is an excerpt from a compilation I've been working on.)

Dawn Rising by Maria C.
This city claimed the lives of my comrades, my teammates, my friends. They sacrificed themselves, for me, so that I may live. Yet look what my actions have wrought! In a single day, this once-great city has been obliterated, by my own hands. I arrived at dawn, and by dusk it was no more. And I only have myself to blame.
As I break my gaze from the accursed place and finally depart, I remember my greatest regret...
"Damn," I thought. "I really shouldn't have broken my medal chain so much."

Substance Abuse by Azeo
"What do you mean, put it back?" I said. I had the flower vase gripped tightly in my hand, and could see my fingerprints.
"Well, sir, it doesn't belong to you." said the waitress.
"Are you going to call the cops?"
She didn't reply, and I could tell I was making her uncomfortable. I was kind, and left. With my vase.
I spent the rest of the night going from restaurant to restaurant, knocking things off tables and stealing vases.

the lampshade flickered
the lampshade flickered, I turned over to face her. I put my hand on her arm, she had such soft skin. and those eyes black as the night. I whispered something incoherent. its ok, she couldnt hear me anyway. she meant the world to me.
I kissed the stitches of her lips and moved my arm up to hold her face, the coarse material ever so slightly uncomfortable under my hand. she had such soft skin, but this is all I have now.
