Hey tig people -

I'm nearing completion of a site I've been working on that chronicles my many game development mistakes and overly ambitious unfinished projects - was gonna do a little promotion on it so I can have a place to share my future projects, but thought I'd run it by some fellow developers on here first.

In particular the writing style - I can write complete sentences, but am kind of a social media retard and non-blogger - tried to keep it funny & light but not sure I succeeded or not. Curious to hear anyone's impressions of that part of it.

The site's at http://quadruplea.com/ if anyone wants to take a peek and throw in their 2 cents.

Thanks!

Cool! I left you a comment Smiley

Your posts are light and funny, so you succeeded at least in part - but they also seem to give an air of self-doubt. Take pride in your ideas! They good!

Thanks mysteriosum! Really appreciate the feedback. The self-doubt is legitimate Smiley. I'm often a bit unsure if my stuff's any good or not. And I like to be honest if there's stuff that sucks that I recognize as such. But yeah, maybe a little more acknowledgement of the good stuff too would help.

And agreed about stealing ideas - I probably worry about that more than I need to - we all build off each others' ideas after all, nothing comes from nowhere.

The writing stlye is good but the site is kind depressing to look at - it's so dark and poop coloured.

I like it, and especially like the honesty. also like how easy it is to look at the screenshots.

not a fan of the color scheme though. that's my only complaint.

Thanks guys Smiley

Agreed the color scheme isn't great - I'll try some different visual themes when I get the chance, maybe de-poopify a bit.

I agree. The only suggestion I have now is to get rid of the green "Download Now" buttons. I tend to avoid them like the plague because so many crappy advertisements use them to trick people into clicking them.

Yeah, had the same thought about the download buttons - it's better than the hard-to-see links I had before, but makes me think of those shitty download site ads. Those piss me off - so blatantly deceptive, and yet Google AdSense publishes them by the truckload.

OK, turned my meticulously-photoshopped green Download Now buttons into boring gray looks-like-it's-not-made-by-a-marketer Download buttons:
