That's a lot of characters though. You could probably cut one or two fro the list.

Two of those are special characters that probably won't appear in the game, and six are just summoned creatures. There are ten playable mages in total, which is still pretty manageable and should be diverse enough.

We've recently made a cut on character based content anyway. Well, at least rearranged the content to give better effect for less dev time.
Instead of each mage using the same large pool of spells and several unique abilities, we've made it so that each character has less spells in total, but each one's spell set is different and features few spells unique to that class.
Less content to make, one less mechanic to explain. While at the same time, the mages differ more between each other.

A short video showing current progress on ArcMagi:

Comment away - it's the first time I make a video of a game I'm working on and I'm very curious what impression does it make.

Whoa, very creepy. The third one is like a female psycho mantis..of sorts.

First one reminds me of that thing in Pulp Fiction. Guess its the ball-gag and leather outfit.

The first three are necromancer's undead slaves: ghoul, phantom and lich  Evil.

Here are some new character sprites from the game:

Angel (new summon)

Warlock

Necromancer

Also, I recently went full-time indie and launched a new website for our team. It has more info on these chacters, as well as on what we're currently doing. Check it out: www.moacube.com

Hah, true. It's funny how exaggeration, which looks good in animation and makes it more dynamic and believable, loses a lot in still frame.

I think his left arm is going off into the background.

So...

If we were to resurrect this project (likely without Lurk, though), is there anyone still interested in it?

some people are still waiting for that game...
In the current game environment, you would probably have some success with that game.
Just pay attention to the gameplay
