Aww man... I wish I had enough room for a Wii. My living room is way too small to play comfortably

Cave Story deserves better than just a Wiiware release

Wrong. But hopefully Pixel still owns the IP and it will be his say, in which case it's about the same situation as before. It might be good to modularize the design of Brawl anyway, so that characters and levels could be added or removed by (for example) simply dropping some new files in to a game data folder? Especially since the process for getting rights to stuff is completely informal; this means if someone gets upset about their X being in brawl, it's easy to take it out without damaging the rest of the project.

Also, you could then 'leak' the files later. Purely by accident of course.

All right great news, celebration,etc... But hey Cave story is starting to get old now. There are other great indie games, let's make them famous instead , or something.

Ambivalence. I'm happy for Pixel, but Cave Story will no longer be our game. Oh, we can say we played it way back when, but will it really matter? Maybe the Wii will be a new life for Cave Story, or maybe it will be the death of it. Either way, I predict in less than 4 months after this comes out we'll remove our Cave Story smiley.

I totally disagree. I'm ecstatic that a game that so many people in the indie community have loved will now have the opportunity to be loved by the masses. Wishing a smaller audience for a great work of art is ridiculous, and to me undermines the purpose of art.

Probably will be. They can't very well use someone's translation and sell a game without paying that person.

It was said at the Nintendo Media Summit today that Nicalis is working on the port. What’s interesting for indie gamers is that Nifflas works at Nicalis.
