Damn you indie blog...Damn you... Anyway, who else is playing this game, if you are, which ship do you prefer, and how far have you gotten? Just wondering.

Does this count as a clone thread? http://forums.tigsource.com/index.php?topic=4485.0I love it. Kinda suck at it. My favorite ships is the Hand of Xom and the Anemone, but they're all interesting and balanced. The farthest I've gotten (stage 2-2) is with the White Butterfly, my least favorite ship. (I managed to post this reply in the completely wrong thread. )

real art looks like the mona lisa or a halo poster and is about being old or having your wife die and sometimes the level goes in reverse

I, too like Hand of Xom, as well as Spinneret, with which I managed to see the first boss once and hold the astoundingly high score of 1615 (or something.) I always manage to die at 1600 points or shortly thereafter.

According to high-score table I got 3175 point on normal and 1505 on punishment... can't remember how it happened and what ships I used. Most likely "Hand of Xom, as well as Spinneret" White butterfly isn't bad either, but its multiple missile a bit hard to upgrade.

Yes: IT kills me lots. My favourite's the Spinneret - it's interesting, suited to my playstle and beautiful. Whilst the Xom's interesting I'm also good with the Butterfly.
I've gotten up to Boss 3, and accumulated ~4000 points. On normal.
Despite the constant destruction, the atmosphere is so calm I don't even care. I just start again.

I have made it past the first boss of level two with the Hand of Xom. Each weapon is designed to be used against a certain class of enemy. Open hand for large enemies, closed hand for medium enemies, and the multi cannon for small enemies(this varies with the ships). You can mix and match if it helps you live longer.

My favorite is the Hand of Xom, blaster paired with closed hand make short work of anything not too big, and open hand is great for the big enemies and bosses. Anemone is fun to use too, but getting so close to enemies gets me killed a lot more than w/ any of the other ships. I also suck at this game, so I messed around in the init file and prematurely unlocked myself the Chaos Squid. I got what I deserved though, it's really hard to use.

I can see you beating it with Hand of Xom, and maybe anenome.
But I won't think you're amazing until you do it with THE white butterfly.
Or the chaos squid

I finally beat this. At least, that's what I edited the files to say. I beat the third boss on level 3, but he killed me so the game thinks I haven't won, but I corrected it

I can get halfway through the second level...
My favourite craft is the Anaenome (sp?). I love the swords, feels very radiant-silvergun-esq. Spinnerette is good, too.
I love the idea behind Hand of Xom, but it's just haaaaaard to use.

The Chaos Squid is even harder to use then the Hand of Xom. Also, I can't imagine beating most bosses without the open hand.

Orb field + swarm rockets are even better than open hand. This combo deals as much damage but is more useful against moving bosses because you don't have to come close to control the orb.

White Butterfly playthrough on punishment (Chaos Squid) Stage 1: Stage 2: Stage 3: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YCViUPZUs-gNot so obvious trick: you can press fire2 to release the orb, then press again to stop it. The series is complete now. I will do videos of other Linley's shmups some day.
