jemchicomac introduces Crazy Belts, a Work-in-progress game for mobile, tablet and computer.

The game original concept comes from the roots of the old-good 8-bit days and is loosely inspired in various games from my childhood. I hope you will find references to Bomb Jack, Pang and Lemmings when you’ll play the game. However, the game mechanics is 100% original and updated to today’s user experience: touch screen and realistic physics behaviour,  based on Box2D. These elements are hardly difficult to find in +20 years old game and I would say that the game is old and new at the same time

Some snapshots of different elements of the game:

You are the cargo guy in airports across the world, in charge of handling bags and luggage pieces. Happy holidays of millions of people are at your fingertips.

The idea of the game is to control the moving parts of the cargo facility and handle the bags to their right destination. You will need to keep special care on VIP bags, bio-hazardous luggage contents and other pieces moved across the globe.

The game is expected to have +50 levels in +5 countries with increasingly complex cargo facilities full of crazy conveyor belts and moving parts.

You can see a video of the game here:

The game is entirely developed using Java, on top of the great LibGDX framework, that brings the (expected) cross-platform write-one-play-anywhere feature. Currently has been tested on a large base of Android devices, in the web and in desktop computers (Both Windows and Mac). I’m waiting for the game completion starting the port to iOS, at the same time LibGDX team polish automation processes (via LibGDX Setup GUI Tool) porting into iOS.

Physics relies on Box2D directly from the wrapped libraries available in LibGDX. TweenEngine is the only external library used. The rest is based 100% on LibGDX framework: from animation, to sound fx and music, OpenGL tasks, UI Widgets and so on.
