Is anyone here developing Flash games on Facebook?
If not, why not?  How long could it possibly take to make a game like Farmville with a different context?  How much money would it take to convert you to the dark-side and make something like that for me?  Is Zynga going to take over the world?  What is going on in this crazy world?!?  Shocked

I'm actually working on something very much like that at the moment.  Once nanowrimo is complete, I'll likely have a prototype for the game as well.

I'll be sure to post a devlog on it at some point.  But yeah...very much the dark side.  It makes me a tool.  Who, Me?

Haha, well it's only on paper at the moment.  I'll have plenty of details come December.

We're actually going to be developing a couple of games in flash in the near future.  Flash is EXTREMELY easy to learn and manage.

I actually wasn't aware that those Facebook games were made using Flash actually.  Should be fun when we make our game and release them.

Does anybody know the process of submitting your game to Facebook?  Is it just like a "fill out a form" type of deal?

There is an hilarious discussion on the subject in indiegamer.com right now.

Yeah, I'm not going over to indiegamer.com. Those guys is crazy.

If you want to "submit" a game to Facebook, it's pretty damn simple.  All you gotta do is download their API and get to work.  I haven't seen them limit or control any of the content thus far.

I'm actually thinking of a facebook version for the future of Anything Beats Everything. I read a bit about using the Facebook API and Flash, it doesn't look that scary. I think a lot of people overestimate the ease and underestimate the spreading power of Facebook for their games.
But it's fine by me, that means less awesome games on Facebook when I'll release mine Tongue

So how do you handle transactions in a Facebook app?  Is that a service Facebook provides?

The money kind?  Isn't the whole business model based on people buying stuff in-game or am I misinformed?

It's not through Facebook, no.  You can work with Gambit, Offerpal, Super Rewards, or many others.  They handle all that stuff for you basically.

Damn.  I knew about what Zynga was doing, but the fact that you gotta get on board as a dev or face bankruptcy of failure?  That's tough news to swallow.

Fuck it, I'm doing it anyway.  Can't put a broke man in the poor house.
