Chuunibyou episode 4 was fun, can't wait for more. Ergo Proxy is great and episodes 9 and 11 reminded me of why I loved it, the first few episodes have some pretty low quality art and tend to hide everything in the shadows but I think it takes a big leap after that. The plot is actually making sense as well, because I'm pretty sure most of it flew over my head years ago when I watched only the last few episodes.

Disappointed it took so long for me to start watching this anime. It's pretty great so far

make sure you watch the movies once you're done the series. the first one has a couple cool scenes but the second one is fucking beyond description

Ooh yeah I didn't watch the movies when I finished Gurrne Lagann originally, I'll have to watch them when I rewatch it.

Didn't even know there are TTGL movies, have to watch them immediately since the series were one of the best animes I've ever watched

yeah, a good chunk of the movies is reused footage from the show, but the new animation is incredible.

now there's only the k on movie left and I can't bring myself to watch. I don't want this to end well, to be precise I still have the very last episode ahead ... but the same conflict applies. chuunibyou reveals more and more of its potential. i didn't like the first two episodes too much but the last one was plain awesome! and since we're at girls in japanese highschools anyway: did anyone of you watch nichijou? I guess I'll pick it up after k-on.

Yes. It's not at all comparable to shows like K-On, Hyouka or Chuunibyou; Nichijou's focus is entirely on comedy. Its comedy is mainly of the bizarre type, which basically keeps derailing ordinary life into utterly bizarre situations. is pretty much perfectly representative for Nichijou. It's definitely not for everyone, but I love it.

I find myself in quite an odd position when it comes to anime. Because my father is Japanese I was attracted to anime much more due to its place in my beloved culture and out of nostalgia (when I was little, my dad once brought home a Spirited Away videotape. I didn't understand a word of it but I remember it well). But there are many prevalent themes in anime that I don't like and generally steer clear from (high school girls, overly cheerful main characters, etc), thus I haven't seen too many series in my life.
However, even if I generally don't really see the greatness of most anime series on their own merit, there are a few that I think are cool and only TWO which I consider to be absolute. fucking. MASTERPIECES:
Samurai Champloo and Ergo Proxy
For me these two shows do everything exactly right. In both, many episodes do not so much focus on the progression of the main plot but do explore very interesting themes (think graffiti in Edo-era Japan, or the imagination of a robot mind), yet as the last episode approaches, everything comes to a head with such INTENSITY, and both shows have left a lasting impression on me. Neon Genesis Evangelion, although that show too is masterfully crafted, didn't do as much. Just sayin'
Animations, soundtrack and voice acting are also splendid

Surprisingly enough I just finished watching Ergo Proxy last night. I think it's amazing how overlooked it is because story is well told and still full of interesting twists and turns. So glad I actually took the time to watch it from the beginning, those last few episodes are intense.
Probably going to watch Ghost in the Shell next.
