HackyZack is a small personal project that I'm throwing together during my spare time (mostly late at night). It is a simple platformer that came about when a friend mentioned something about multiplayer Super Meat Boy. I'm not a big multiplayer fan, but I thought that it could be fun to guide two characters together through challenging platformer levels. The result was HackyZack. I plan on spending no more than two months on it. I have five worlds planned. Each with a featured hazard/mechanic. World 1 was completed in one evening, but it was mainly tutorial stages building up to hellish GIF below. I am doing all of the art, code, and design for this small project. I'm still looking for someone to bust out some sfx and roughly six short tracks.

I hate you, too. And that silly chicken. World 2 has timed switches/doors. Still working on the visuals. This is my first time doing art for a project. EDIT: Upped it to 60% completion. Code is done. Art is maybe 40%. Two of three worlds are complete in-game. The design of the other three is all in place.

I'd be down to contribute sfx and/or the tunes. I can do chip tunes, synth stuff, guitar noodling, whatever really.

Thanks, everyone. I finished World 2 last night. Three worlds and some menu stuff to go. I also have to figure out what the "hearts" unlock. I wanted something similar to band-aids. A secondary goal. Perhaps character/hacky skins? Anyway, here's Level 2-2. EDIT:Whoops, I meant to mention that yes, my plans are itch.io. :D

Oho, looking like a nifty little game! I'm not sure about six tracks (will probably take some time) but I could offer sfx. At least I hear some bounces and pings and dings when watching those gifs, so why not make them :D

Anything helps! I appreciate it. If you're super interested, I could send you a build or something.
I was working on the tiles for World 3 when I got distracted by the idea of hacky skins. I may have gotten a bit carried away, but I think they're cute. Frog, III, Vlambeer, Meatboy, Moonman, Chicken Sword, Poke...sack, and Isaack.

I love the concept and it looks fun. But...where is th second player? Or did I misunderstand?
Looking forward to seeing more, and I think it's great that you're limiting your time on it - it's a nice way to add some boundaries to your dev.

Oh, I just meant the idea of two players lead to the idea of having two 'characters' in the environment (Hacky + Zack) that one player has to keep track of. And thanks! I'm bumping it to 70%. World 3 art and mechanics are in place.

Haha, I appreciate that. It's tough for me to take credit for the aesthetic of the project though. I'm not working with Hunter currently, but having access to all of his sprite work on SUPER III and going through all of his beautiful animations is really what inspired me to give it a go and attempt some pixel art of my own. You will notice that A LOT of my palette comes from SUPER III sprites and that a few tiles draw inspiration from his stuff. Thanks again though :D
