OK. Thank you for this information. My apologies for sending you into a frothing rage, that was not my intent.

Ha, yeah, I definitely think it's closer in gameplay to Galaga than Galaxian, but I rather like the name Foraxian and figured the two games were associated closely enough that I could get away with it.

Definitely one of my new indie picks :D Not entirely sure if the goal's to kill all that you meet, but I'm doing good. | + --- --- /---\ --- --- | =| =| @ |= |= | --- --- |---| --- --- | | ^ | | ^ | | |---|-- |---| --|---| | =| = | | = |= | --- --- |---| --- --- ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ Pilot this vesselI'd get this with my b-day money if I hadn't had something else I can't function with any longer without I needed to get.

I really like this. Are the vessels supposed to make some kind of procedural music when equipped with different guns? It almost seemed so, though its always kinda the same music.
I wish there were a standalone client or a way to edit the keybindings (I just need that for my work Linux Desktop where this game would fit perfectly).

Gads, I can't wait for the next Captain Forever to come out. (contemplates homebrewing a "wiggling with anticipation" emote) ... (finds this on google)

Has anyone beaten Capt Impostor? If so, what does the end look like and do you have any tips?
I'm no noob, and have beaten CS repeatedly and CF twice. I just feel like CI requires much more patience and that I can never find a ship to clone that isn't terrible.
Thanks in advance!

Arg. I just played it then and got to Juliet level before dying.
I think you were right about CI requiring patience. You need to get every kill you can before decloning, pushing each ship you fly 'till it's a smouldering heap, then pushing it some more.
My general rule is this: Only declone if there are no weapons left on the ship, or if it's the only way to escape serious danger.

https://twitter.com/#!/FarbsMcFarbs/status/125608330537340928The perceived value of indie games has dropped, so I’m trialling a lower price point. For a limited time only, Captain Forever supporter access is discounted from $20 to a mere $9. That’s a saving of 55%, and a perceived difference of an entire order of magnitude! This is an as-long-as-it’s-profitable sale, so as soon as income (sales x price) drops below regular levels the sale will end. If the games sell well enough then the sale could go on indefinitely, but it could also end tomorrow. I spent so much time in Captain Successor it's unreal. I think I picked the series up at 15 dollars during pre-order and thought it was a steal, so it's a great deal at 9 dollars. Captain Jameson (the next game of the series) is up to version 0.5, the changelog is massive and the game is coming along great. get it or you can turn in your indie card right now

from what I played of it I really enjoyed it. I don't think I played the last few alphas but it seems a lot more playable now then when I first tried it when you originally let it out.
I should really sit down tonight or tomorrow night and get a full play-through out of it.
good luck in the IGF!

This is the thread - that - ne - ver - ends! Actually it feels like the project that never ends. And it might be. I just released a new build of Captain Jameson, which adds asteroid mining and a few other cool things. I'm really not sure that the mining is tuned correctly with the rest of the game, so I'd love to hear people's thoughts on that. Mining looks like this: And then like this: And can be attempted by supporters here.

I dunno if I'm just stupid or because the game is in alpha, but I still haven't figured out how to play Jameson..correctly, that is.
I seem to fly around and not really do much before I run out of oxygen or encounter an enemy that kills me in a couple of shots.

...six years later...Captain Jameson (later renamed The Dawn Star) never quite gelled, but it produced the render tech I needed to finally bring the Captain Forever series out of the browser and into the Desktop / Steam ecosystem. Hooray! In a couple of weeks Captain Forever Trilogy (upgraded versions of Forever, Successor, and Impostor all packaged into one) will launch on Steam right about here. Good stuff: - Wing shaped modules
- Fullscreen, much better framerate
- Prettier
- More audio
- Rewritten narrative
- Tons of new ship transmissions
- Impostor ship no longer consumes Clone Power
If you're interested please check it out and, uh, maybe post in the discussions over there so it's not so quiet. Thanks!
