I've had the latest Matmos album on repeat for the past few days. It's probably my favourite album I've listened to so far this year. It's samples taken from a washing machine and bent into some pretty bangin' electronic tunes.

Afrobeat anyone?
yeh as an aside if you want really good oldschool african pop, follow everything this label puts out: https://analogafrica.bandcamp.com/not only is the music great, the guy who runs it goes to great pains to do research and interview musicians. the liner notes are always really entertaining to read. he also licenses everything. this is important because a lot of these labels reissuing older african music are basically record collectors selling bootleg copies while the actual musicians don't see a single cent of the profits.

Kikagaku Moyo- House in the Tall Grass https://gurugurubrain.bandcamp.com/album/house-in-the-tall-grassone of my favorite new psychedelic bands, and one of the few to have an actual studied sitar player in the band. im going to see them live in a little over a month and im already pumped.
