Try and enter a value below 1$ into the new mask. Don't buy at such a low value of course, just try to enter it. I promise hilarity.

VVVVVV got a lot of TIGSource love because Terry has been a TIGSource regular for ages. It's normal to want to support the work of a colleague and friend, and VVVVVV was a quality title to boot.
But it did get a lot of flak for the price at launch.
I personally felt a bit ripped off by the amount of content I was getting and some of the presentation felt a bit amateurish. And the dollars were not converting to pounds well, I paid practically £15 for a $15 game. But on the other hand, it was fun. That's more important than anything. I feel like I have a 20% success rate at enjoying most media, and getting into my enjoyment bracket is a big fucking deal. If you make a game that's fun. Fuck being perfect, just make a game that's fun, then all the crinkly edges don't matter. I've reached a point in my game developer career where I'm more interested in players who are out for a good time than those who are high maintenance. The latter is like having a supermodel girlfriend that doesn't appreciate the effort you put in to keep her wearing diamonds.

I guess, but I remember VVVWWWW getting a lot of flak when for being commercial and costing $15 even though it was a "freeware quality" game when it came out.
(The difference between commercial and free is often just one of production values.)
another big difference tends to be content -- freeware games on average can be completed in less than 3 hours, commercial games run from 6 to 20 hours normally. vvvvvv was a 2 hour long game, so that's mainly why people complained. but i liked it and thought it was worth the money, but i understand if it wouldn't be worth the money to others

Or, you know, do what I do and do both... Work a full-time job and make your game on the side. You have 16 or more hours in a day.

working a full-time job is nowhere near as fulfilling as working on something of your own creation full-time. I fail to see how anyone could disagree with this.

I'm wondering what is the significance of the number 4048, that is notch's donation?
he tried to donate 2048, it didn't go through properly so he donated less ($2000) and that worked. The next day, his $2048 processed and so he was on the list twice. rather than ask for a refund, he asked to have both set as one donation.

Not when they just made ~$100,000 each from the humble indie bundle (assuming they get 11% of the ~$900k each, based on the default split)

I kinda understand phubans in this. If you are starving, or indie game development is "like a concentration camp" for you, just get a damn job. If not - and in fact you are doing well - stop complaining.
I get that the pic isn't to be taken very seriously, but it does look kinda awkward next to the million dollar sales stats.
