games that feel like walking in real life. weight, teh same limited amount of movement
good example: dark souls 1
okay examples: DS2, bloodborne
almost-okay example: demon's souls
(factors: speed of animation, walking sounds, delay from walk to run, ease of walking, delay from run to walk to stop, level geometry,... everything else).
i havent played many other ones recently. basically looking for games that feel closer to the physicality of walking vs popcorn butter.
Note this probably isn't going to be a platformer: you don't platform like crazy in real life walking

hm? what's so bad about demon's souls?
anyway, fromsoft are masters of this. king's field and armored core are also good examples.
ico and shadow of the colossus too, especially ico.
the arma games too i guess.
resident evil is another big example even if the "tank controls" are a bit ridiculous. maybe silent hill as well? (its been very long since i last played it)
EDIT: oops you said 3rd person, so arma and king's field don't qualify. but they still give movement a lot of weight.

The very first Lost Planet, I think. Human controls were a tiny bit floaty, but the mechs had superb feedback for pretty much any movement.

Crackdown and Gravity Rush. Jumping/flying around feels really good.

i personally dont like their approach because it feels kinda slow and unresponsive, but rockstar has made their characters feel heavier with their recent games. gta5 and red dead specifically

basically looking for games that feel closer to the physicality of walking vs popcorn butter nah SM64 Does have great weight of movement because of all the momentum based platforming that you do. However, I would be a fool to call it realistic. Both definitions are different.

oooh yeah i liked the movement in red dead a lot. that's a good call. also not 3d but the old prince of persia and another world are good examples of "weighty" movement.

yeah i'm saying close-to-walking movement, NOT good platforming movement in the mario sense, i guess.

Try to strafe in MGS4 in fps-mode and watch the head movement, for example. Even that received conscious treatment.

They sure are fun to kick around though (curse you Dark Souls 2 for making them unable to be kicked around). It's more the player character's weight and movement that people are praising though, which is a lot better.

Resident evil 4 is worth noting for its physicality -- the de-facto default movement is a sprint which can be a bit glidey but the walk speed and use of letterboxing and the camera/movement feedback for explosions and interactions are astonishingly weighty. Lots of attention paid to leon's body, clothes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kOms6i-j7xo&#t=13m50s

Ground Zeroes (and I guess PP too) has good character walking. Also yeah maybe Silent Hill 1-3, I haven't played 4 so idk about that one.
