Does anyone know which program I can use to make pixel art?  I have Photoshop CS3 but I don't know how to make pixel art on that either =P.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks in advance!

If worse comes to worse, MS Paint'll get you through anything. There's also something called GraphicsGale I hear some people like using, for pixel animations and whatnot.

I'm gonna refer you to this thread about pixel art tutorials found in the art, music and design ressource thread. You'll find various links to tutorials that talk about many pixel art tools and how to use them. Happy pixelin'! Smiley

I don't know how anyone can bear to use Photoshop to pixel. Using the 1 px pencil, it doesn't even always place pixels where you want it to.

GraphicsGale is the way to go, IMO.

'Gale mostly, but often I make the initial idle sprites in Paint.

I often make lineart in paint and color it in cs2.

I don't have that problem with the pencil tool though I am frequently upset by it's lack of consideration for pixel design.

If you're a Mac user, go with Pixen. It's great.

I concur!  Great program.
Though, it is a tad unstable.  Ver. 3.1 seemed to fix most of the random crashes though.

I disagree. I used to use Pixen, but there are two major issues with it:
  • When you click outside of the drawing window, say to choose a different tool, you have to click inside the drawing window again before it actually lets you do anything.
  • Colours chosen using the Colour Picker are not accurately reproduced.

I just run GG in VMWare Fusion.

Yeah, get both of those bugs (the second of which is absolutely bizzare).  Also it crashes pretty frequently (for such a simple program).

ProMotion here. I can't even imagine pixeling in something as shitty as mspaint anymore.

That has to be the least Google-able name I've seen in a long time.  What's the URL?

Here's the website. http://www.cosmigo.com/promotion/

I also use ProMotion and love it. I don't pixel very often, though.

I used to use GraphicsGale, but then switched back to Mspaint because I'm used to it and anything better wouldn't really be necessary for pixels. I've tried so many different programs and just ended up coming back to mspaint in the end, so I don't bother trying anything new anymore.
