Is there any way to do this without copying sheet music note by note? It seems like something that there should be a program for.

Probably, but I don't know of one - as for programming something to do that, I imagine it would just take a bit of digging through the file formats and figuring out a logical way to convert it.

There's Finale or Sibelius. I used both of them a lot when I was briefly in university for music but it should be noted that they're awful.

It requires a fair amount of effort to make sure that the sheet music is legible the way you want but they'll work.

Hello there,

There's Finale or Sibelius. I used both of them a lot when I was briefly in university for music but it should be noted that they're awful.

I think Sibelius is a great tool! What's so awful about it?
Sure, it takes a while to get used to it, but which elaborate software doesn't?

Anyhoo, Sibelius can't export to the strange PxTone tracker format, and I'm pretty sure Finale can't either.
Sorry, but I'm stumped. There simply doesn't seem to be any program that does it.

Best thing I can think of is exporting to a .wav and then using a program or VST that tries to create MIDI notes from the audio data.
The results may need a lot of re-work though (depending on how complex the song structure and sounds are), so you might be better off just copying the notes into a MIDI tracker/sequencer by hand.

Cheers,
Moritz

Apologies. I thought of the incorrect file format. Embarrassed

I used Sibelius for a long time and... well I just hated it.
(sorry, not hijacking the thread!)
