wow, sorry its been a while since I have posted here. (Started a new job and finishing up some freelance stuff).
Update. Game is coming along nicely. Lots of extra work at the moment. I have two heroes completed. The game will start with one hero, the wizard. He will wield the power of arcane fire as shown in the below screenshot.
if a player finds a key and a cage, they can unlock a new hero to play as (These heroes are randomly selected, the only real difference is their one time spell) there are a couple other heroes coded although I need some ideas for animations that activate their specials
- Sorceress : Summons a blizzard that freezes monsters for 2 turns
- Amazon: has a dash ability that allows you to move 4 squares
- Rogue: has a sneak ability. Allows the player to move diagonally
- Cleric: can destroy all undead creatures on a level
- Jester: Scrambles all monster positions on the board
- Fighter: if the player kills a monster they get to take another turn, like jumping in checkers.
I also have been adding some more enemies, my favorite being the Cockatrice. If a player is inline with the monster it turns the character to stone.
and now onto comments.
rek: Its been an idea I had that basically you can move enemies in and out of danger, but after doing some testing, its use is very limited, moving them into a trap, doesn't happen as often.
Alchiggins: thanks, doing 2D animation is something i dont have as much experience with as 3D, so I am glad its been coming along.
barneycumming: thanks, I found a picture with a pallette I liked, and I have stuck with those colors for everything.
