rinku: I'm female*. I'm sure that I've seen others around too.

Myst was one of the first games I played, I loved it.

haha, best footnote ever! :D

Haven't played Myst yet.  My parents bought it when I was in highschool, because they heard that it was "the best selling game of all time," but so far none of us have felt like unwrapping it!  One of these days, perhaps...

Just be sure not to expect action. Of any sort. The game's much more about contemplation and puzzle solving than anything else. And yes, it's pretty much a slideshow most of the time, but it's a damn fine slideshow.

Oh, I remember Myst. That's one game unlike any other of its time, even if the software it was built on was very primitive.

You want hard? Play Riven. Play it for a week and watch your hair disappear, your sleep go out the window, food and water become secondary and all life being drained out of you by those accursed islands!

I could look at an puzzle/exploration game in the face, once.

Though it still looked beautiful.

i beat riven without ever looking at guides.
took me a year.
got all the endings.
i spoke fluent D'Ni by the end.
i understood the crazy moon language the islanders spoke.
i read the novels.
i hung out on the cyan forums.

i was a crazed myst-verse fan.

Isn't a sealed copy of that game worth something* now? Shocked

*and by that I mean a lot.
