Tale of Maco is a LoZ-style game, in the sense that you collect items and beat dungeons and then go save someone. It plays similar to Link's Awakening. I honestly was not expecting to get very far in the project but it's gotten to the point where I CAN finish it and I really want to, so here we are.

Here are some screenshots of the first few minutes of the game, since I tiled it all and did room warping this morning:

The structure of the game will hopefully be somewhat non-linear to a degree.
Once you beat the first dungeon, there's several areas you can go from there. Ideally you'll be able to do the dungeons in a non-set order, so there's no story requirements so to speak. You might need to do a thing before entering a dungeon, but that's the extent of it.
The story is still being developed but it's not terribly out there or even impressive.

That's it I think. I'll be posting screenshots and updates and stuff as I progress through this mess!

Smells like PROGRESS.

It's not much/not very visible, but I've been hacking away at putting the tiles down for the overworld instead of programming the rest of the items you get or coming up with enemies hah.

I should get around to doing some more bugfixing too. Never enough of that.

Forgot to say this in my other post whoops, but thanks for the compliments! I'm aiming for a demo hopefully by the end of June at the LATEST, probably earlier then that though.

Speaking of progress:

What is a zelda game without a little vandalism, eh?

Double post for progress and screenshots:

I love waterfalls and cliffs and bridges let me tell you.

A, as of now slightly outdated, view of the overworld! I've gotten the general overall design and all the tiles placed, next up is putting all the objects in place and starting on the caves and dungeons themselves!

But before I do that I really outta program the rest of the items...

Thanks for the support guys! I'm getting pretty hyped over this project, despite struggling with visual designs for enemies :'D

Looking sweet. I can tell from the influences in that map design, you've got the stuff. SO looking forward to this.

Man I'm looking forward to this too. It's been fun to just run around in too. I hope the enemies are fun to fight too when I get to them!

Here's another screenshot before I go to bed and go to Fanime:

Also a slight graphical glitch there; but that is the only thing wrong! It works perfectly otherwise. [Though I could probably stand to make it add the heart AFTER the message but that's a polish thing for later.]
