Just to remind you, that last article mentions that the offer wouldn't be 2 billion, but 2.5 billion. That's 25% higher than what was mentioned before.

sidebar: it's worth remembering this is a financial deal based on the value of the IP, the userbase, name recognition, talent, sales projections, etc. The valuation is not, actually, based on how many dollars it takes to turn notch evil.

more accurate is how much in volume
also, let's say you eat 8 donut per day, everyday during 95 years, it's 277 400 donuts, that's 11 896 lifes with 3.3 billions donuts.

So a donut is on average 3,3 cm high and has a diameter of 9,4. Assuming donuts with infinite rigidity stacked together, the size taken in a storage, assuming volume of individual stacked donuts as a bounding box is (3,3 x 9,4²)*3.3billion = 88,36 * 3,3 *3,3B = 291,588 *3,3B = 962 240 400 000 = 962 240,4 m3 That's a cube of 99m per side.

minecraft maps are 4 722 366 482 869 645 km2 big that's 4 722 366 billions that's not infinite but that makes 1$ the 2361 183 billions km2 for just one map, that's super cheapos, even more when you take account the seed (2^64 which is 18,446,744,073,709,551,616) * version of the infdev games map generations. Given there is 100 millions of players, that's 20$ per users

They are infinite, randomly generated, it's just that the game may crash if you go over a limit (may be a memory crash, the memory isn't allocated for more space)

Isn't that the result of an overflowed value? I always assumed that was the reason (especially since maps start losing a lot of detail when reaching those limits, which seems to imply a loss of floating point accuracy)

it's not infinite then, even perlin noise have recurrence if you don't keep adding octaves and layers. But it's pretty big (total by version of minecraft is 18446744073709551616 x 4722366482869645 km² = 8.7112286e+34 km²)
is there a calculator that allow computing the exact number? I like stupidly long nerdy number

The amount of atoms in the universe is not infinite, though.

Where is the proof? U hav none also visible is only 46 billions, it's less than all minecraft verse edit damn I learned there is two naming convention for power of ten ... large and short scale ... how about not to make things confusing? BTW minecraft total isze is in Decillion (Quintilliard) (Vunka, think bigger than giga) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Power_of_10http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Long_and_short_scales

If you think that's bad, Japanese is based on multiples of 10000, not multiples of 1000. At least it's consistent within the language I guess...
