Greetings, TIGSsource crowd!  Smiley
We are currently working on a little action game called Mushroom Crusher Extreme. To be more exact, we’re assisting with development and publishing  to our fellow dev team, Mushroom Party. Mushroom Crusher is now on Steam Early Access, where we’re collecting player feedback and we are hoping for your feedback, too!

The core of the game is already there, available for playing. Getting MCE polished and juicy is our mission now. We have a plan for steady updates all the way to the eventual 1.0 launch. Our biggest task for the Early Access is developing online and offline multiplayer co-op and testing it with the community.

Here’s MCE feature list:

  • Survive the onslaught and BATTLE more than 15 types of vicious Shrooms
  • COMBO your arsenal of elemental spells and MATCH them against enemy weaknesses to fight your way to victory.
  • Collect spores and redeem rewards. Hard-won accomplishments UNLOCK more spells, levels and goodies for your ever-expanding inventory
  • EQUIP different combinations of Spells and status-enhancing Trinkets to customize Zenon’s powers
  • EXPLORE beautiful, handcrafted levels and rid the world of Shrooms once and for all!

So far we’ve had some useful feedback from the community, but not quite as many players as we hoped. I’d love to hear some your opinions both about the game and the way it is presented (trailer, Steam page, etc). Thanks!

We've just put out an update with a new feature and a few adjustments and bug fixes.

AI Reaction Icons

The new feature this week is the enemy AI aggro icons. The movement of enemies in MCE is not always random—some types of enemies have their own movement patterns, which activate once the enemies detect you. With the new reaction icons it will be easier for players to observe different patterns and learn to use them to their advantage. It is easier to lure a Shroom into a convenient attacking position, if you know where it jumps next!

They way it works now is you can clearly see when an enemy becomes alert to your presence and is about to attack you as an exclamation sign appears next to it. When an enemy loses track of you, a question mark icon appears.

Here are examples of both:

Accomplishment Pop-ups

A major adjustment in this update is the new Accomplishment pop-ups. They are similar to the Spells and Levels pop-ups. When you unlock a new one of either, you get a window showing up in the menu, containing the information about the newly acquired articles. Now it should be easier to keep track of the Accomplishments you unlock, without even having to drop by to the Accomplishment menu.

Here are compared examples of a Spell and an Accomplishment pop-ups:

Minor Changes and Fixes

The new Accomplishment pop-ups and the AI reaction icons are the most prominent additions to MCE this update, but, as usually, there are also other new adjustments and fixes. The waves of Spike Crush now “climb stairs” - better reaching up to tiles located above Zenon’s level. Enemies under Charmed condition now can also bonus time for the player, when defeating other enemies. In the level selection menu, most of the levels now have have proper icons to them. Now you can see the miniature version of the level when placing cursor over it. No need to memorize all levels by names!

The detailed changelog for the update can be found on our Steam Community forum.

Today we put out our biggest update to date - local co-op mode.

The co-op can be played by two players at a time. There are different control options: you can share a keyboard, you can both play using gamepads or combine both—let one player use keyboard and the other one a gamepad.

We also have a split-screen feature available.  It works nicely for situations where you want to be causing mayhem at completely different parts of the map. If the view gets too tight, you can just toggle back the single screen-mode.

Here are split-screen and single-screen views compared:

It's our last update before the Holidays and it's a big one - Online Co-op mode.
The players can now invite their Steam friends to play with them in Friends mode, or they can look for a random match in the Public mode.

As a nice surprise we also added some Holiday visuals to the game, they should be visible for a couple of weeks.

The full changelog for the update is on our Steam forum.

Cuteness! I love odd, cute environments and I love isometric games. Something about the colors doesn't really fit - maybe too many different colors that don't go together? Anyway, I love the creatures. Good luck!
