I'm thinking of submitting a proposal for series of small presentations to GDC Europe similar to the Rant that Phil Fish organized in San Francisco. If you're interested in being a part of it, please post your name, location & web address here, and some suggestions as to what you'd like to talk about (so I can see if there's perhaps a general theme). It doesn't need to be rants. Just short presentations. Perhaps in Pecha Kucha format. This is very urgent, as the deadline is this Thursday, April 30 at 11:59 PM (EDT).Edit: The deadline seems to have been extended to Friday, 8 May, 2009, 11:59 PM USET.
Sorry for the short notice. But if you'd like to attend the conference and you can pay for your trip to and stay in Cologne, this could be a nice way to get free passes for a bunch of us. Not to mention, of course, further the cause of indie development, which hasn't had a lot of publicity in Europe yet despite of the fact that I think Europeans would be very open to the idea. |

Cool. Had no idea you were in Scotland, Stephen.
I'm also thinking that perhaps simply a short presentation of one's work would be good. Given the potential lack of familiarity in the audience with indie development.

have you had any other people get on to you about this yet in private? [i've mentioned it to a couple of others, but it's shaping up to seem like this is going to be rather the main euro-indie gathering of the summer]. Had no idea you were in Scotland, Stephen. that's not surprising, because i wasn't until relatively recently. |

The problem is probably that a lot of people think they're unqualified to speak. I know I do. Well, I know I'm not qualified, so I'm a bad example, but I'm sure there are people who are mistaken in their assessment of their own eligibility.
Maybe you should clarify exactly what you're looking for in a speaker?
