Café blockout

Here's a more genuine greybox so that I could get a sense of scale.

Clearer now than ever that the previous placeholder house was indeed tiny. Cheesy

It grew a bit compared to the sketch as well (an extra set of windows on each side). Became evident when I placed tables and people that it would've gotten very cramped at that size.

EDIT: Reposting the sketch here since it got paged by this post:

Another sketch: flower shop on the other side of the square. Trying a different shape for the roof this time to get some variation!

Probably too small again, but mostly trying to figure out the ideas and then I will elaborate.

This building and the café are the two houses I've had in mind with the prototype scenario from earlier, so that's why I'm working on them first.

It's not a mechanical pencil if that's what you mean. Tongue

Flower shop blockout

Almost feeling silly about making an update for every small addition at this point but it's fun! Coffee

Maybe the door frames aren't tall enough but I can adjust that later. Made the café a bit smaller again too, as it ended up feeling oversized after all.

Kind of neat exiting this house and seeing a barebones square outside now!

Workflow

What I'm doing so far following an initial sketch is to copy over some main blocky elements from the square into each new 3D file I make to have some points of reference, then moving those over so that the current house it at the origin:

I feel at this point that the whole square is probably too big again as well, so I'll fix that later.

No I mean the hardness/softness of the graphite

https://pencils.com/pages/hb-graphite-grading-scale

If yours doesn't have a grading it's probably HB (the "neutral" hardness)

Another blockout

Another building that plays into the first scenario, but an even cruder greybox than the last two.

It's low because the zip line cars pass right over it, and since it's also on the corner of the square I thought I might as well put a tower on it for them to go through as another support structure for the wires, and then I can put another tower on the other side as well, make it all look a bit fortified and fancy. Put some flags on top! c:

Amazing productivity!

Btw, where the cableway will go? I mean, so far, everything we saw is in one elevation. I'm looking forward when you will start leveling it.

Grin

I did a tour of an even blockier version of the town a while ago, you can see where it goes there Coffee

Nice! I missed it, back in July I not stumbled upon your thread yet.

Very nice town layout, now I'm even more intrigued to see it grow. Kiss

Thanks! Hope I can keep growing it at a good pace.

Forgot to post the sketch with this one, but it doesn't contain much more than the model. Tongue

Thank you three! Kiss

Mostly took a break for the rest of the week, besides sketching out an updated overview of the square and updating the ground model to fit:

Hi Prinsessa! It took me some time to get an overview over your devlog. Your game looks amazing and I admire your consistency. You earned your little break for the week Wink
