This is a Arena Shmup I made using the Virtual On 4k engine I made. It shows off my abillities with vector graphics and also a new collision detection algorithm I developed. It has a really cool blur filter, three types of weapons, two types of enemies, and an end-boss!

Recommended: 3ghz processor.

Controls:
WSAD || HOME/END/DELETE/ PAGEDOWN = MOVE
LEFT MOUSE = LEFT GUN
RIGHT MOUSE = RIGHT GUN
E || PAGEUP = BOOST
V = PAUSE

Tip: Boosting makes you invincible.

The arena's space is pretty small for the size and number of ships involved.  I think it could be improved if you made it larger and maybe upped the speed a touch.

The ships should be all tinier, or the arena should be bigger. And the trails made me lose myself sometimes.

I think it's quite a hard game, with all those bullets flying around. I guess you conciously intended to not have a strafe function, but it'd really help, since it's quite hard to dodge bullets and get yourself into a position where you can shoot at the enemies. I also think there should be a health bar for the last boss (maybe there's already one such thing and I didn't notice it?). Also, I think there's some sort of bug with the boss - the two times I tried the game, it told me "You lost" all of a sudden, after fighting the boss a bit. I was definitely not hit by his lazor though! I like the simplistic geometric shapes. I couldn't test the center gun because I've got a QWERTZ keyboard (z key is where y is and vice versa). Maybe this can also be fixed.

You were most likely hitting the boss himself. He takes a big chunk of life if you do. No he doesn't have a lifebar, but I'll give him one.

I'll also be making the screen bigger, and I might make the player ship faster.

I have some ideas about my game I think I'm going to implement

Like taking out the Z+X gun

And making it so that the X bomb goes off even if it hits something

Also, should guns lose power if you're boosting since boosting makes you invincible?

edit 3: removed center gun, fixed x bomb, added strafing (A,S) and changed how boosting works (hold down to use);

Hey CyanPrime.

I played your game the other day, but didn't post. So now I am =D.
It looks like, from your posts, that you've changed some stuff, but these were my impressions from when I played it:

Controls were fine and dandy.
The graphics looked nice and vectory.
The game was really hard though! That said, I *suck* at sh'mups.

The real only problem I had was that on my computer it ran *really* slow. I'm not sure why. Could just be my computer doing something silly; The loading was really slow, then once the health bars were full and the enemies spanwed, it ran smoother, but still rather skippy. I'm using an Original Mac Book Pro (Core Duo, not Core 2 Duo) with 1 GiG RAM.

The newer version is definitely improved on what you started with.

I think the biggest issue for now is that it has some performance problems where things run slowly.

Okay, so I got rid of the background to make things less confusing, and I halfed the blur. Also, I made the player ship twice as fast.

...Oh, yeah. I open sourced it too.
Just click on the get source button here.
I'm looking for ways to make it use less resources, so if anyone figures out how t cut it by like half please let me know.

It's a pretty impressive java game. But I felt the health bar was way too large. I was constantly running into things and getting hit and I still won. But it looks nice and plays well! And that's what matters most.
