Ahoy to all;

And my apologies if this has ever been brought up before; I did a search on the forums and found nothing. (I may just suck at searching)

I am trying to get an idea of how many side scrolling games use procedurally generated lighting systems. I know that many side scrolling games implement lighting through the game's art itself, but I am more interested in a procedural implementation. I am curious from both a technological standpoint and (primarily) a design standpoint. If anyone has any games that immediately come to mind (that are also free to play), please point me to them.

Procedurally generated?

Do you mean sidescrollers with dynamic lighting?  The only game I can think of off the top of my head is ABUSE.  Shrug

Dynamic is great - static lighting is also of interest.

Shameless plug: the game I'm working on currently is a sidescroller with dynamic lighting. Look at my sig.
