Now available on Steam Early Access. Full Release on July 28th!

Galacide is a thrilling mash-up of a space shmup and a match-4 puzzler. Your world has been invaded by a mysterious and deadly alien race, and you must fight your way through hordes of enemies while matching your way through the blockade known as the Bitwall. Choose from one of four powerful ships, each with their own unique abilities to assist you as you attempt to defeat the dangerous invaders.

Destroying enemy ships causes them to drop colored "scrap" pieces, which can be picked up by your ship and shot at the Bitwall to create matches of four of more same-colored "bits". The goal of the game is to continue to progress forward until the end of the level, or in the case of endless mode, as long as you can survive. If the Bitwall pushes you back against the left edge of the screen, it's game over!

You can find examples of the gameplay of Galacide in the

!

Features
  • Endless Play: Make your way through endless waves of enemies and the rapidly-advancing bitwall as you fight to survive as long as you can.
  • Leaderboards: Battle your way through endless mode in an attempt to crush the scores of other players from around the globe.
  • Puzzle Play: Challenge your mind in 30 unique puzzles that test your knowledge and understanding of the core concepts of Galacide.
  • Challenging Boss Encounters: Battle dangerous and powerful bosses that stand in your way. Can you defeat the most dangerous beings in the galaxy?
  • 4-Player Co-op: Recruit up to 3 friends in local co-op to assist you in dispatching the dangerous alien invaders.
  • 4 Playable Ships: Pilot the balanced mining ship, the tanky Freighter, the elusive Phase Ship, or the powerful Battleship. Each ship includes its own unique weapon and special ability, ensuring that there is no "wrong" choice.

Galacide began as a simple prototype that was conceived during the development of Blade Symphony. The idea was to create a game that combined the fast-paced action of a shmup with the quick-thinking required to solve match-4 puzzles. These mechanics combined gracefully to create an experience that was extremely hectic, entertaining, and challenging, and led to the concept being developed into a full game.

Galacide is being developed by Puny Human, a small indie group based in North Carolina. In the past, we've worked on such titles as Blade Symphony and Dystopia, and we are excited to add Galacide to the list as well!

You can find Galacide on Steam and the Humble Store.

Just a note, as of this morning, Galacide is content locked for its full release on Steam. We'd really love to support it after release, but obviously that depends on sales (we can't do it for free!)

Yesterday, the final touches were put on the final boss, dialog was implemented, final music, the 4th ship was finished and so much more. Will be posting some screenshots and whatnot today.
