For the PC version its a good move i think because it still doesn't run properly, even on computers that are way above the requirements.

It's fair to ask a refund for a variety of reasons — although doing it after playing it for fifty hours is being disingenuous — but scorning the game on review pages of other games for lulz and likes isn't a respectable attitude.

Refund was estimated to 20k, peak player was at around 230k, game is at 60€, they win in the end I think.

come now, NMS doesn't suck because they took risks, NMS sucks because they advertised a game that didn't exist then tried to sell basically a screensaver at AAA pricing. $15 and change the ads to ACTUALLY REFLECT the game and the game would have overwhelmingly positive reviews.

part of the problem is steam isn't allowing refunds past 2 hours with no exceptions like amazon and the others are and since that's about how long it takes to explore and get off the first planet (the point where you realize that thats it, the game doesnt get deeper than that) so the steam players kinda all got stuck with the game even with only 3-4 hours gameplay.

HOLD ON We wanted that; we wanted players to wander around exploring planets but never to feel entirely safe.” They have always advertized the screen saver quality of the game, people put too much into that, it was clear to many people like me that it was just that with some sugar for mimicry. https://www.vg247.com/2014/12/11/you-wont-be-playing-no-mans-sky-with-your-friends/ 2014 http://gamerant.com/no-mans-sky-no-multiplayer/ 2014 people hype themselves based on nothing, they only listen to what they wanted and ignore the very clear message send. They always describe the multiplayer in term of journey and darksouls, precising the leaving message of dark souls, ie the floating presence that someone was there. Total biscuit was right, it's a desperation game, ie a game people want so much than no existing game or project can fill their fantasy.

I have read people in the nms reddit saying they got the refund after more than five hours played. It seems you gotta insist, even if you get a negative initial response, and mention the technical problems that you have (crashes, visual glitches, etc).

That's prob because the developer, on stage showing the game, said you'd be able to run across other players much like in journey or dark souls while exploring planets. They advertised multiplayer and action-packed combat (talking about fleets and teaming up with wingmen for large scale space combat) up until launch day then 180'd on those without so much as an update on the videos.

That's if you bought it through amazon, steam even updated the main NMS store page with a huge orange box that says they will be giving NO refunds, without exception, past two hours.

The big space battle with 20+ ships is indeed there, that wasn't a lie.
I think there biggest mistake to show the highlight building toward itmoments (lush planet, rare sight, etc...) instead of building a narration TOWARD it (ie a journal that show a explorer's journey through many harsh barren planets that culminate into the view of a lush planet), they gave the impression that the game was only lush planet even while saying they are only 10% of all planets (the showing beat the telling ).
Also the dev were clearly hype by the concept more than anything else (all those planets! 18 quintillions per galaxy, there is 255 galaxy, mindblown!)

That's a pity then. It certainly takes more than two hours to discover if this is your kind of game or not. Some people liked the first hours and then ended up hating the game.
