I hate to be a bother, but I have to mention my Musagi app again since so many are asking for chip music tools. In its current form it's pretty much ideal for NES-style music and other chippyness.
thanks for the link, I'm going to check this out tonight

Offering up cool, free software for all to use is hardly a bother.

Hmm, no Mac port? Any plans? I used it on Windows a long time ago and thought it was totally awesome. Be nice if it were portable enough source that someone could do a port.

The app should be fairly portable, as it's not using any major Windows-specific components. I've got one or two candidate porters for linux, but I suppose I'll make the source freely available once I kill off some of the bugs and separate the Windows-bound code into port-this modules (and/or replace some stuff with portable options, like input/timer code).

I finally got my site back online, but I've decided to rebuild it from the ground up. The PXTone music is still available (with some new WIP tracks, too!), I should soon have the NES music up as well, although I probably will link to it here. The site is http://buzinkai.net, and you can access the NES songs by going to http://buzinkai.net/soundtrackmp3s, which contains 9 tracks of actual NES tracks I wrote a while ago for a school project. (Uploading them now, actually.) </blatent advertisement> I also don't mind hosting other PXTone works, so if you're interested, give me a shout. EDIT: The NES files should now be accessable.

Yeah, that's where I got it from, haha. It's an awesome song, and I hope I can do more of it, really.

Er... yeah. Just find a tool that works for you, whoever "you" happen to be. Try out lotsa stuff. Every app has a learning curve, and some will suit your individual tastes better than others. FL Studio does all I need it too and its affordable.

Decided to finish Sanxion before next thursday. It's a tough one, since PXTone was not meant to do a few things. It has an option for portamento, but it doesn't seem to work. Although I will be doing a part where the notes bend. I'm also going to fix the instrument in the beginning a bit to sound a little more like the actual song.

Er... yeah. I'm sorry, I do that sometimes. Take away my internet connect, and save the ears (eyes) of the world from my wordy wrath.

In terms of process, is the decision to do everything in pxtone out of necessity (ie. you don't have any other apps to work with) or just by choice?

Well, I have another program to work with, but it's pretty much a raw audio editor. I always like taking my apps a little bit farther then they should probably go. It's just fun.

The last two tunes have these vocal things that the director really liked so she sort of forced me to include them.
Well, I really like them too The synthetic bassdrum kind of stands out as a bit odd in those last two pieces imho, but it's a minor distraction from the otherwise moody and very cool sound. I think y is my favorite, was it used for any particular scene in the play?

I fell in love with the original NES system's sound years ago, and I use NerdTracker II to edit with. It can do everything the actual NES can do. For my final project in game design, I wrote this: http://buzinkai.net/soundtrackmp3s/plc.mp3Props if you know the song.

I think y is my favorite, was it used for any particular scene in the play? The bass drum was supposed to represent a heartbeat and was supposed to play through most of the play, stopping at the end of the last song. Unfortuneatly, as much as the director liked the music, she decided not to use it because it didn't exactly match the ideas she had in her head. I found out later from some of the students in my school's acting program that she is generally regarded to be batshitinsane. The play was originally a one person, one act thing or something which she adapted for a cast of four. Two of these cast members were supposed to be some sort of Ziggy Stardust style androgeneous rock star creatures who pretty much just danced for the whole show. Props if you know the song.
Metal Slug 2, level 4? The one with the boats where its really easy to get fat.

The song is called "Gekiai Merry go round" or something. It's by Psycho le cemu. Check them out on youtube. Sorry I've been away. I'm training for a new job. All I managed to get done was this measly little thing. Victory!!Edit: Also just updated Sanxion. It's not the whole song, but it was getting pretty huge.
