What is Heldric?
Do you enjoy hack-n-slash but longed for a bit more? Maybe you like tower defense games but find them a bit boring? Heldric is a unique mix of the same old styles of game with a few new twists. A hack-n-slash without endless level grinding. A tower defense game with more action. A game where you don’t play as an epic hero, but as a humble shoemaker who must work together with his fellow villagers to defend their home.

Build and upgrade the village quickly before the attack waves start. Each building you place adds unique abilities to not only the player’s character, but your fellow villagers as well. You must choose your structures wisely, as there are only a limited amount of plots to build. Each villager contributes to your coin income and provides essential help in defending the town.

You must help defend against waves of monsters intent on killing everyone. Do you have what it takes to survive?

  •     Randomized villagers, each with different amount of courage and weapon knowledge

Heldric’s world continues to improve with the latest updates.  Villagers will now seem more alive with new animations and work zones.  They will automatically seek out and use structures such as the blacksmith or fletcher.  Don’t forget to let them eat by building an upgraded campfire and drink potions from the herbalist.

New visual improvements with the addition of Screen Space Ambient Occlusion (SSAO) that adds shadows where objects touch or have creases. This adds a very nice visual effect but should only be used on newer video cards.



Thanks to all your feedback Heldric has been able to be improved and is now getting very close to release.  Don’t be shy, let us know what you think of the new changes.

  •    Added villager work zones to buildings and spots around town
  •    Added additional animations for villagers when idle
  •    Added Screen Space Ambient Occlusion (SSAO)
  •    Added environmental sun ray effects
  •    Added new trees that sway in the wind
  •    Added more grass and flowers
  •    Added new maps Corvin and Oaksilia (not in demo)
  •    Added numerical details to options sliders (FOV/volume level/etc)
  •    Improved minimap rendering to reduce load
  •    Improved navigation around shrines so AI can get closer to heal or enemies to take damage
  •    Improved powder keg explosions
  •    Improvements to Linson and Foxwater maps (not in demo)
  •    Fixed bug with pathfinding on Mudvane
  •    Fixed bug where video options were not getting correctly restored on load

First, we hope that everyone had a wonderful Christmas and is ready to celebrate the end of 2013. Heldric has come a long way from an idea in August. Unfortunately, we did not receive enough votes to make it on steam greenlight. However, we used the time to take your feedback and further improve the game. While this means that Heldric won't be available for purchase this month, it will mean a better overall experience when it is released.

Thank you to all the people who have taken their time to provide us with feedback or make a video. The game wouldn’t be where it is today with out it. We are still rather far from our goals, but still hopeful that 2014 will give Heldric the chance to shine.

"Rotate the village" sounds a bit funny, but other than that this looks really good!

Took way more time then I had hoped.  It was also turned into a more painful process then I hope. (Greenlight/etc/press/etc)  Screamy But I'm very pleased to announce that Heldric is now finished.  Steam store is up and it has been approved. 

The Release date is April 17th 2014.   Grin

A big thank you to everyone who provided feedback and testing.
