Hahah, it wasn't a perfect run, but I think maybe the limit would be around 300k, at least on the strategy I'm using. All the people who are bunched around 200k are making the same fundamental mistake.

I bet you one of the Kongregate Kids beats me within the next 48 hours.

I just joined the ranks of those bunched around the 200K mark! I wonder what I'm doing wrong.

Great game, anyway!

Oh! What's that?

(Actually, I really thought about 200k was the practical upper score limit when I was testing it - which is why the scores you and Tim got surprised me so much.)

Oh! What's that?

Well, I'm a bit reluctant to tell you since you'll just go and beat my score. But, since I suppose it's inevitable anyway - the real key is that the game continues after time over provided you're in bullrage mode. So after your first bullrage, you gather up 5 bulls, and don't start looking for another bull until there's less than five seconds remaining. When your second bullrage is down to less than one second, move right up to the right of the screen to maximize your chance of getting extra time.

To get over 250k you need to get lucky and get quite a few cars while you have five bulls, and quite a few buildings when you're in bullrage mode. But if you do it my way, you should frequently get well above 200k.

Oh, right - I didn't expect that would account for a significant score difference, kudos Grin

Francois contacted me, asking for copies the two talks I recorded.

OGG/Vorbis file format

Haden/Unity3D: http://www.box.net/shared/00nmk60tqi (6.7 MB)
Alex/Free time game development: http://www.box.net/shared/q05c08pjyu (22.3 MB)

Unfortunately, Alex's presentation recording is of horrible quality Sad I tried to start writing it down, but probably won't be able to finish this with my pair of ears: http://docs.google.com/Doc?id=ddk4ghbn_4fwb4g9r2 help would be appreciated (just pm/email [email protected] the text passage and tell me what time frame it covers and I'll add it to the document and mention your help)

Balls! I went on holiday and forgot I had to get this stuff posted to the website. I'll try to find some time to do it this weekend before I go to Leeds...

I'll meet the guy who's behind the video documentary thing that was shot on friday and saturday in september. I'll ask him for a good recording of Alex's talk then. Can't promise anything, though, obviously. I got a video of it, but the sound's horrible and there's occasionally someone standing right in front of the camera... Beer!

Hey, that's awesome.

I just tried a noise removal filter on it, to get rid of the ambiant sound from the place, and it seems that it *sounds* better.
The process added some flanging, not too annoying, and a nice cathedral echo as well, but it seems quite ok.

I re-compressed it in OGG, 'hope the double compression won't trash it that much  Embarrassed

@Alex : the OPD presentation you linked doesn't include any image. Is it my version of OO that doesn't handle it ? Embarrassed

I'll check it later. They're not that important I guess. I did them on the day, so maybe I forgot to save it or something.
