that's not what i would call a solid launch lineup.
The expectations regarding launch line-ups are woefully unrealistic. Few consoles ever have a decent selection of titles at launch, let alone what could be called "solid." The 3DS's launch titles were about middle-of-the-road, leaning toward the weak side. I'd say the Vita's selection was comparable, but leaning toward the strong side. The PS1, PS2, and PS3 all had weak, ineffectual selections at launch. Oddly enough, the PSP's initial selection was pretty good. Sony have a better knack for providing for their handhelds early on.

Yeah, launches are usually very weak. And with handhelds they're very port-heavy. GCN and N64 launched with Luigi's Mansion and Super Mario 64 respectively - not a lot else, but those were good, original games.

So anyway.
Vita slim came out yesterday and I picked one up. Severely regretting not getting this thing sooner. The backlog alone is worth the price.
I picked up Tearaway and Soul Sacrifice. What else would you guys recommend?

I just realized I could get War of the Lions and Tactics Ogre. Yes, yes you could. And both have superior translations. (though there is a complaint among fans about the sprite stretching) Now that you have a Vita, it's a good idea to check up on the PSN sales regularly. A lot of PS1, PSP, PS Vita, and indie games go on sale regularly, and a lot of them are good. The Vita was already a decent spot for indie games, and is only becoming more so. Getting them on sale through PSN makes indie gaming for the Vita affordable and pleasant. Personally, I really enjoyed Muramasa: Rebirth on my Vita. Played the game all the way through. Not the first time it's been available, but the Vita's screen really helps the game to shine. I've also recently been enjoying Persona 4: Golden. Both titles should be fairly affordable by now. For PSP offerings, get a copy of Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicles off of PSN. A great game in its own right, it is also a love-letter to all things Castlevania, and a fantastic value.

You can't go wrong with those gems, and they are a perfect match for a handheld. If by any chance you haven't played them you should get them ASAP. I'd add Wild Arms if you like JRPGs and Alundra if you like Zelda-like action RPGs with lots of puzzles. EDIT: I somehow skipped the message where you said you already played them both, but I still suggested some others, which, chances are you already played. Other tip: If you haven't gotten PS Plus, you should try it, they give discounts and also some free games from time to time, and for other PS platforms too. If you have it already, disregard this Tearaway is pretty neat too.

I play a crapload of Marvel V Capcom 3 on the vita. Its button scheme works really well with the vita. I would love to see KOFXIII.
As for some of the playstation mobile stuff:
Shovel Shuffle is pretty fun and it's free for the basic set of levels which is pretty much a full game
Console Saga is also quite good

At Sony's E3 press event they announced that the Vita TV will be coming to the US. (and presumably Europe at some point) This thing is definitely not going to be for everyone. But it will be for some people. I was thinking about getting one for my brother. He's kind of a minimalist fellow, and prefers not to accrue collections of "stuff." A diminutive console with a focus on digital offerings might be right up his alley.
I'll be waiting to hear on whether or not the Vita TV will support the Dualshock 4. I never liked the ergonomics of the old Dualshock design. I would much prefer to pair a Dualshock 4 with the Vita TV.
