I just redesigned my developer website, sinisterdesign.net, to make it look a little more like a respectable indie game developer website and a little less like a cut-rate Flash arcade. Gentleman

I'm happy with the more minimalist approach of it, though I'm sure it could be better. I'm thinking about having some artwork that snakes up the left side of the page, maybe an interactive Flash thing. Something to promote upcoming games, perhaps. Haven't made up my mind yet. What do you guys think?

Reminds me of industrial tape, and Haze, the PS3 game.
Not really relaxing to look at yellow to black on a screen, I'd go with more grey instead of black maybe?

You have a point...tweaking it now...

EDIT: Okay, new color scheme. Much cheerier. It doesn't really fit the whole "sinister design" motif, though. Tongue

I've settled on an adobe-ish color scheme for the time being. It is a lot easier on the eyes than the yellow-on-black theme was, I think.

Looks very plain... maybe I'm not seeing it right?

I'd get rid of the <body> margin/padding (body { margin:0; padding:0; }).

can't you make the site more un-sinister, I don't think it's quite there yet.

Nope, you're seeing it right. Hence, me asking for suggestions on how to jazz it up. Smiley

I'm trying to decide what to do with the left column, which I've left blank right now. Maybe some kind of artwork snaking upwards? An interactive Flash movie?

No.

The design is fine. But the top image which is designed to be put in a corner isn't in the corner. It has a beige border around it. Fix that first and make the background either white or black instead of beige and it'll look great.

I'm viewing the site in Firefox 3.5 by the way.

I dunno. It doesn't look very... sinister? The muted tanish color really need to go. You could try this color scheme designer. It's helped me out a bit.

A big negative on the flash intro. I personally think those are more intrusive than anything.

Not a Flash intro--a sidebar animation. Try clicking a comet. Smiley

I'll mess around with the color scheme some more.

Okay, I've replaced the light tan with a dark gray. I think this works much better than any of the older color combos did. (It's more sinister, if nothing else.)
