I've been working on Cut-it Flash Version for a while now & it has gone some massive changes since the first test version. This is based on Cut-it by Petri Purho, an unofficial flash port, with his permission of course. The mechanics and graphics style are unaltered, but new levels have been added (Total of 30 Levels) ,some modified & some original levels removed (i found it too difficult Wink).

For those of you who are unfamiliar with Cut-it, Cut-it Flash version is a physics based puzzle game, which employs the Shape Cutting feature as its core mechanic where gravity is made use with wide variety of clever implementations without adding too much features (like Ropes, gears, hinges etc) as the game progresses (which makes it unique).

I'm releasing this (after few hint additions & bug fixing & tutorial additions) real soon on Kong. Please Playtest it (Enjoy the game) if you like and i will be glad to hear from you what you liked and what made you irritating etc etc.

Play the Game (just 4.5 Mb) : https://app.box.com/s/yxuybb17v466cp7r916u

(An error may popup if you are playing right from there(rather than downloading it), just ignore it. Get Adobe Flash player from here : http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ if you don't have)

Following feature are under heavy construction : Help Text for each Level, Tutorial for Help text & restart, hints after 13 levels.

I am so bad at this game. haha In one level I was cutting the blue thingy to so many small pieces it started to lag quite a lot. lol
Maybe you need to balance first few levels so it is easier for beginners to catchup.

I found it very nice and pleasant to play. The background music is great.
The intro with fertilizing planets and water cubes / flowers is quite original and nice too.
Like Prads, I found that the levels could be more balanced. Some of the first ones are actually more difficult than later ones.
As an improvement tip, I suggest you to transform "time penalty" in "remaining time bonus". It would be more positive to see. I'd make the water box timer trigger a little bit faster too.
...and I didn't manage to go past the "Unstoppable" level which seems to require a lot of luck.

Thanks a lot for your kind feedback. Balancing the levels was the hardest part in making this game (since too many ways to solve each one & playtesters thinks different i guess). I'm planning to bring on some changes to that levels (I was actually going to stop working on levels). And i'm working on a help system for users who gets Stuck .. Once again Thanks a lot...

Appreciate your constructive feedback and criticisms. I think i will be accepting your changes since i seem to have overlooked them (in the rushness of finishing it) .. And the Unstoppable level ... Yeah it was kind of luck based ,but can also be done through timing & stuff (i've seen testers doing that kind of stuff).. And water box timer ... Sure will ... Thanks for your time & effort, it means a lot to me.  Coffee

Hey, just gave the demo a try. It's a very nice and polished game. Some of the things that I think are done very well are the music, the art (especially the water splash and plant growing animation), and the cutting mechanism.

It is pretty difficult though, and the hint system is particularly helpful. For example, I'm stuck on level 5 now, and I'm not sure what to make of this hint:

Maybe you could show on the screen the beginning of the first cut, just to get the player started?

Sorry about the help stuff (it was a dummy text), feature was under WIP. Here's actually it is implemented. I've placed circles to give the idea where to cut too.

Smiley Thanks for playing.

its pretty genius. i like the physics, very well done. you will have to work on the sequence of the puzzles, the difficulty does not rise in a sensible way. i still dont understand some of the early puzzles, some of the later ones are obvious how to solve.

Liked it very much.
But I too think the difficulty curve needs to be tweaked a bit.

Appreciate your effort to put into words, you kind feedback. Difficulty balancing was one issue i'm currently tackling right now. I'm reordering the levels based on the player testings.

If you can be more helpful, can you please PM me a brief message regarding which levels you felt hard/confused ?

I love the sheer amount of... open-ended possibilities this cutting/physics mechanic offers.  Introducing mechanics, scaling them, reusing them, building clever puzzles, etc will be the key, but truly just perfect mechanic.

I think Super Meat Boy is the perfect example for introducing mechanics gradually to users and using them to build levels.  If you could capture some of that refinement this will be a winner.

I don't get the exploding block and flowers growing though....

Thanks for your kind words... And i'm glad you liked the mechanics, and for elaborating on specifics of your likes. And i loved super meat boy, Edmund mcmillans quotes from "Indie Game:the movie" really helped me a lot. At one point i wanted to get rid of similar levels, but reusing it in different contexts can actually reinforce the mechanics ..

Exploding blocks & Plants ?? Its just a computer representation of restructuring the environment with the help of Life Cube to help the vegetation(& life) to thrive. And ofcourse there is no direct explanation (other than some glitch in some level - Surprise) ...

There's still a lot more re-arranging going on & balancing .. But i'm really exhausted, refining it .. Rushing to finish it as soon as possible ... The paradox of finishing a Game ... Smiley Thanks for playing...
