Requires the Standard Edition of Game Maker

I made tool for testing out the particle system in Game Maker. At the moment this only includes simple effects. Adding in the custom particle system is going to take a while, especially if it's going to be fairly comprehensive. I also will probably write an actual tutorial for the particle system.

It's pretty good, though it doesn't have everything I'm looking for. I'm doing this mostly as a learning experience anyway.

I've seen and heard of these many times but never actually used them before. Have you ever used them for your games? These always seemed like something for beginning GM users to me, but they seem like they could be useful for anyone using GM.

Hardly only for beginner users. Particles are visual. You want to be able to adjust them in real-time, and see how they look. Such a tool is very useful.

Good project, btw, sure there are a few other particle designers, but none of them perfect. The more the merrier, so far as any user is concerned!

Feedback on your one: No export, only basic effects, no sprite loading, no background color changing. More an example, than anything else.

Things about Alert games part designer. The most fully functional I've seen, but it has problems. the UI is poor (in my opinion). Also, because it uses certain DLL's, I'd say there would be no Mac port.

There's a part designer by Lithium, which has a nice UI, but has less functionality. It doesn't use any DLL, but it's still PC only.

(and those are the 2 best GM part designers I've seen yet!)

I don't.. think there is any GM particle designer for mac. So you could steal a march there. Even if you don't have a mac, you should be able to find someone to port it for you.(hopefully!)

Anyway, g'luck.
