In case you don't know, you can right click - copy - paste numerical values to and from the player to see what other people created. thanks Mix, hot tip. 78268,98912,115760,83984,28688,46864,45108,47298,44800,42496,756,107010,74244,85248,82188,82048

Aaah! Thankyouthankyouthankyou! I created a simple (less cool) toy inspired by this thing, but forgot where I played this. Now I can add proper attribution to it Um the clone/whatever I'm talking about is belly

wow, that is neat! I've been thinking of cloning tonematrix too so that's a great example. One thing I want to mention, my laptop doesn't have a mouse wheel that works with a lot of mouse wheel things -- I don't know if this is common at all.

I keep waiting for something like this to come along and put me out of business but I can breath a sigh of relief again. Cool little program based on the pentatonic scale. Limited but fun.

Great toy. What pisses me off is that he can't post the source code ... I want that power

Oh, hey draco. That could be used really well as a backing rhythm for a tropical game

Very nice. Thanks for the link. It's very fun. Even non-music people I've showed this to have enjoyed it.

Lol... that coincidentally pretty much clicks with an idea that came to my mind today and got me really interested: http://forums.tigsource.com/index.php?topic=7950.0It's great fun. Reminds me of the software Audiomulch (2.0) btw... I really want to understand why this is so awesome. I was under the impression that random notes are supposed to sound bad.
Which is pretty true. But those are not random notes at all. It's a fixed 4/4 beat and a (major?) pentatonic scale. It just doesn't have any dissonant sounding notes. It's like building up geometrical shapes using the golden ratio - you virtually can't go very wrong. BaronCid

I have learned a lot about music since I posted that question. ToneMatrix was basically my first "Holy shit I can make music" experience since making some trial-and-error MIDIs in high school. I started downloading all of the free music/sound related software that would run on my mac. I also borrowed a PC to experiment with Musagi. Then I bought a bunch of music/sound theory books. Now I am writing my own synthesizer, and I plan to add a song composition tool to it soon. So, basically I'm making something like Musagi, but cross-platform and... different.

Wow... that sounds fucking cool, fo realz. Learn to play some kind of non-MIDI-instrument though. Always provides an interesting insight into what music can else be. But I guess now that you get into music like that (never heard a similar story) you already thought of that, anyway. Regards, BaronCid P.S.: Pick the Archlute (or Theorbo. It's the best musical instrument. P.P.S.: Can/do you code flash?

Man, that's a fun little tool. If only there was a sequencer out there that tried that hard to hold people's hands. We'd have less randomly bad music for our little games.
