I know it's very late and your assignment has probably already been handed in, but if it hasn't (or you're just interested in the field), I'd try to take a look at the book "Grand Theft Childhood".

Definitely worth a read. Some parts may not agree with your opinion in the paper, but if you're interested in this sort of thing, the study provides a nice, level-headed approach to the problem.
