Hi. We had a break from the project for several reasons: After evaluating the feedback from the demo from the steam next fest we realized what we still need to do, and we felt a little burned out by the project. There were financial reasons as well, so we had to step down development quite a bit. Personally, I also felt a little burned out of the project after working on it for such a long time, so I did some smaller side projects to recharge my batteries. We are now actively developing the game further and hope to get it finished some time :-)

The feedback was very positive, but by observing players we found a lot of problems in the later levels. We got a really bad pacing in some levels. We had sections with lots of small puzzles one after each other and that felt just boring. Also our levels were way tooo long (some levels had a playtime >1 hour - and that felt frustrating to a lot of players especially when the levels had sections that were frustrating (both because of difficulty and too little variety).
We also had the problem that some enemies/obstacles are pretty easy if you discover a special bounce/shot/trick with the hammer, but are insanely hard and frustrating if a player doesn't discover the "clever" solution. But on the other hand we don' t want put solutions like that in a tutorial because part of the fun is if the player discovers something like that on his own (especially if he tried 2 or 3 times the hard way and then discovers the trick).

Now that you mention it, I never thought about this consciously before but I do prefer multiple short levels over "marathon" levels, yeah. Good call!
