Don't worry, we're around. That noise is totally music to my ears Some art in the making: Something made with a zx spectrum pixel shader: And some AY music from Factor6 in a game using that shader:

Seconded, although it needs more colour clash. Turbo Esprit is one of the best most minimal game designs of all time. (spectrum version only, the C64 one was pus) These demos make me wonder what it would be like if the economy had crashed in the 80s, and no new computers were designed in the interim. Speccy games would probably look much like these demos!

And the Amiga was better than the 64. And Gravious's uber GeForce card beats my 8600 GTS. Who cares, this thread is about the Spectrum.

Actually C64 ran at a little less than 1MHz while Spectrum ran at 4MHz (i think), so C64 was inferior to Spectrum from CPU side (although the floppy disk drive was programmable and could be used as a second cpu - yes that's not a typo :-P). On the other side it had a better sound chip and more color resolution (but the colors were washed out).

Crappy video though. It doesn't lag like that, etc. Anyway, was going to post some C64 demos, but yeah, let's not derail the thread.. Actually C64 ran at a little less than 1MHz while Spectrum ran at 4MHz (i think), so C64 was inferior to Spectrum from CPU side (although the floppy disk drive was programmable and could be used as a second cpu - yes that's not a typo :-P). Actually with some of the more advanced drives, the disk drive had a faster CPU than the C64 itself.. And the C64 palette is awesome
