I hope someone here can help me on this one, and pleas excuse me if this is not the right place to post this. I wasn't really sure where it would fit best.

But anyway, i am looking for a Myst IV like point & click adventure game engine.
So it needs to support 360 panorama images as the background for rooms. And be able to add animated sprites on top of that. Like fire, smoke and interactive items.

I know i could program something like this myself, but is mostly something i am helping a 3D Artist friend of mine to create. And i don't really have the time to make something like this from the ground up, or even in a more generic engine like Unity. But i seem to remember having seen a few point & click engines out there, so i am hoping one with these specific features already exist.

Anyone know of a game engine with these features i am describing, or something close to it?

I googled for you and found this:

http://pyzzle.sourceforge.net/index.html

I have no experience with this.

Perhaps a heavily modified version of the Adventure Game Studio?

Depending the sorts of compromises you're willing to make, Ren'Py might work for your project.

Not sure how this works for thing like that:
http://lassieadventurestudio.wordpress.com/2009/11/21/lassie-website-statu/

Never used but supposedly good. Also you could Google Wintermute engine, which is rather popular adventure engine. Again, I haven't used it personally so not sure if it would work in your case.

Final suggestion is Sludge 2: http://opensludge.sourceforge.net/

I recommend checking these out to see if any fits to your purposes Smiley

Personally I wouldn't recommend that, since there is rather wide variety of free and better tools available.
