qquak is an arena fps inspired by quake 2.
my goal was to sort of figure out how enemies and weapons in fpses can work together, and how you can encourage the player to run into enemies instead of fleeing away

run around, shoot monsters, get highscores

Really awesome game!

I liked the enemy designs, and the game got pretty intense after a little while.

Really fun and cool game.

The only thing that I think was missing, was some kind of visual effect or a more specific sound to know if the enemy is hurting you.

Also, that Rail gun is awesome!

This game is quite cool, I love the artwork.

I wasn't happy to control the menu with mouse, but that's a minor nitpick Smiley It might be nice to have a better definition of the goal as well.

Other than the mouse-sensitivity thing I really enjoyed it a lot. Be nice to have maybe more variety in the colouring, but a good fun blast, that.

Top score as of this moment!

The game's pretty fun, though I kind of wish the pistol had autofire rather than click-to-fire.  The Quake2 sidearm did, if I remember right.

I am bad at this game. I had a high score before it got popular.

I'm really liking this, it reminds me of 8-bit killer a little but still feels fresh.

some ideas you might want to play with

create slightly larger maps with room to roam
add some minimal detail to the walls to help the player with orientation.
include some nice bursty/crunchy death sfx with a few particles.

also, for small caliber weapons like pistols/shotguns you could try making the projectiles invisible aside from when they impact a wall/monster

Holy CRAP that was awesome.

However like 8-bit killer it gives me mega Doom sickness like I ain't had in years.

It is too awesome for my feeble body to handle.

Hey, really enjoying this. Smiley

I don't think I've come across many purely arcade FPSs before, actually, so it's pretty novel.  Somehow, it reminds me slightly of Miran Amon's (deceptively brilliant) Peace Fighter, but I might be alone in that.

Certainly hard, though!  I find myself surrounded by enemies as soon as I stop moving for a second.  But then, that's as it should be!

Great stuff, anyway - both thumbs up! Hand Thumbs Up Left Smiley Hand Thumbs Up Right
