Kweh, my first attempt at a Spelunky Metroidvania! http://www.geocities.com/f4fth/fifth-deepwell.zipThe Deep Well: As you passed by the old well on the hill on your way to town, you could swear you heard someone call for help... And what brave spelunker would dare pass up an opportunity to save someone's life? It's got some action, some exploration, and a few little puzzles. I just hope it's not too frustrating; Metroidvanias kinda loose some of their appeal when you can't save and retry.

Awesome set of levels fifth! I almost beat it, and then I held right for a second too long and... SKRICH! Impaled on spikes! @ Dochappy I would think that the best thing you can do when you create a level is to try to put the player into interesting situations. Play other peoples levels that you like and see what makes them good. Also, pushable blocks are just one of the tiles in the editor. Good luck!

I just jumped downed, killed all of the fish, and roped my way back up with the ropes from the crates they dropped. It was very easy.

Glass Temple1 heart. Entirely possible. Personally I think it's my easiest level - I can beat it pretty quickly and regularly.

Glass Temple1 heart. Entirely possible. Personally I think it's my easiest level - I can beat it pretty quickly and regularly. Gbwaaah! Frustrating! A very awesome level, though! It's really clever, especially the signposts. That SPOILER was genius! But I did make a lot of unusual sounds of frustration while trying to get that far. I LOVE IT! Too awesome, man, too awesome. I haven't beat it yet - got the cape and spoiler. But seriously awesome. Awesome set of levels fifth!

Thanks! I hope it's a decent difficulty. I was kinda afraid that the part after the cape might be too sudden and out-of-place for the levels...

I made a second metroidvania, similar in style to Fifth's. You're gong home, when you find that there are several fogs on the bridge. some of them seem to be on fire. The town guard appears to have gone investigating. do you go on your way? or will one of the frogs create a hole in the bridge that you "happen" to fall through? The choice is yours, my friends. http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?wdiitynzkiyEDIT: I made an oversight somewhere. it's been fixed and re uploaded. For those curious, it was at the exit after you get the spring boots. Sorry to those who already downloaded. EDIT2: re uploaded again, with fixes to fifth's comments. EDIT3: I HAD TO FIX ANOTHER THING. DAMMIT. I scaled back a couple numbers at one point, and lo and behold, I missed one of the entrances. Everything should be done now. If I make another update, it'll be an extra room or something.

Heh, cool. I can definitely see the influences.
...I'm afraid there are some level exit inconsistencies, though. The exit at the bottom of the cape area takes you back to the top of the cape area. Also, there's no way to get to the watery bit underneath where you get the spike shoes. It's still possible to get to the last area through the block on the right side of the very first area, however.
So I'm not sure if it's possible to beat it legitimately, but I did still find the ending bit. I really liked the story that you conveyed there.

I know this is kinda random, but someone I know just made a Spelunky Level Sharing site. http://stacksmash.cultnet.net/spelunky/The URL is actually from his server, Stack Smash, but you have no traces of that on the site. But submitting a level is actually quite simple; just click the "Send Level" tab at the top, and enter the info, and it'll send Androu(site owner) or me an email. He/me will take a snapshot of the stage/level, and if it's very good, he/me will accept it and once in a while, he'll post an update containing several stages and a download link to all of the stages posted. Enjoy!

What if you were to start in the final room of a game/ that's what I asked.
pretty basic stuff, got a small puzzle you need to solve. Most part it's just a combat thing.

Here's a set of five levels. They're quite easy, since I remember finding the levels that come packed with 0.99.8 far too difficult when I started playing. So I wanted to make a series to fill out that void a bit for newer players. Only one or two tricky bits in the whole thing, but it's intended to be completeable with the one heart you start with. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=2CFJ7UZUText version since I'm not having luck with filehosts today: http://pastebin.ca/1357038
