Finally, after a long period of part-time work on the project, it's ready! We have released arcade top-down old school shooter Steel Storm Episode I, for Linux, Windows and Mac, for free! It's still in the beta stage. Some features are being tuned up, adjusted and balanced. The game supports single-player and multi-player modes. We are currently running 6 servers (coop and dm) in US and EU. The game can be downloaded at http://www.steel-storm.comEnjoy!

Looks and plays very nice. But there is no support for FullHD (1920x1080) When I tried to set maximum available resolution+fullscreen, game silently exited.

I'm just sayin, I was a bit confused by the giant paypal graphic. I'm probably not the only idiot. . .
Looks awesome though, I's gonna play it when I get home. :D

Episode II will be paid-for, if I'm reading it right.

Yeahyeah, I understand that now, Dataflashsabot, but I was confused initially is what I'm saying. The visual design of the page drew the eye somewhat naturally to the very much standing out large gold 'paypal' badge that contrasted with the rest of the site which is generally blue.

Thank you guys. That badge will be moved soon. It's there because some ppl were complaining that they can't check if we are PayPal verified

I actually saw this on IndieDB before it was posted here. The visuals are really nice and the game plays like one of those arcadey action games. I have yet to check out multiplayer though, but I like it from what I'm getting so far!

Yeah, the graphics are really nice. Cool particle effects and levels, I really like the look of the levels.
It's a little late here but I tried the first three levels of the single player. First one was easy enough, second one wasn't bad either. Third level whooped my ass. It's very easy to get cornered when trying to maneuver around enemies. Dying a few times seems almost inevitable until you get a good idea of how the level is laid out.
I'll give the mp a go later, perhaps if I can finish the last few levels (I'm terrible at shmups)
as for appearing on the front page, if the editors like the game enough they'll post about it (if they even try it). another way would be if someone (not you) wrote a guest article about it. hmm, probably more likely to get your game featured on indiegames.com. have you tried sending emails to other sites (rock paper shotgun is very indie friendly)?

Thanks allen!
I believe we submitted press-release to RPS, but I bet they are looking for post-mortem or something of that nature vs dry press-release. How do I submit the game to the tigsource editors?

you don't. tigsource has a "you dont find us we'll find you" type of thing going on. like i said, if they play and enjoy your game they might post about it, or might not. they dont post games just because someone asks them too.

I get that But, they might overlook the game, because I am sure they don't hang out on the forum 24/7

I didn't know this! But then I also don't know how you would get your game on the front page besides posting in the announcements and feedback subforums. Anyways, Motorsep, I really doubt my computer will run the game, but if it can I'll post about it.

@Inane
I can't find the exact quote, but I'm pretty sure Derek said something along those lines one day.
