Here's the first post on PixelsFromSpace Devlog for 'Penguin Planet'. Work on this has been going on for around a month, almost all of the games basics have been implemented, baddie AI, player movement, level progress etc.
Penguin Planet is a working title, not the final name. To get the ball rolling here's the dev build running on a Kindle Fire HD. Music has been created by ilYoung who is a member of TigSource, and though not all of it is finalised it adds greatly to getting the vibe of the game over in such a rough video edit.

And the game? It's set on a small snowy planet . Your character rolls around, gathering snow in a snowball-like way, becoming larger each roll, and leaving behind an empty ground-tile. So tiles can only be used once, tactically, for gathering extra snow. The Baddies of the planet, Robot Penguins, roll around too, and will seek to roll onto you and take a life. It's all very much in the traditional Bubble Bobble style, with your weapon being the giant Snowball. Gather enough Snow as you roll around, then a tap on the button releases a Snowball. These Snowballs always roll DOWNWARDS (Gravity, right?). Once used you return to normal size the process begins again, roll some snow until large enough, get above a Robot penguin and drop a snowball onto him.

Hope to post another update video soon, showing some basic gameplay. This video shows the game in its current state, so lots of stand-in graphics. The trees will be more detailed for example, although I don't want to overdo the simple cartoon approach of the environment. Still lots to do on the character designs, I'll post those too as they happen. Other hazards to be added, and each level is played under a timed countdown, so in classic arcade style everything goes faster and madder when this is reached.

Comments/suggestions/questions very welcome,

Thanks
