For those of us not at GDC http://www.indiegames.com/blog/2009/03/igf_2009_winners_announced.htmlYHTBTR didn't win anything, so y'all disgruntled indies can stop complaining. Major congrats to our own Daniel Tabar for bringing home Technical Excellence AND Audience Award. That's what you get for bringing the indies out in droves.

Congrats to winners proper and mere nominees alike.

I'm surprised there's no topic, yet. Discuss.

I haven't played most of the games, so I can't comment much on this. I will say, however, that Machinarium really deserved the award for best visuals. It looks amazing.
And, despite all the hubbub over Pixeljunk Eden, it didn't win anything. So everyone can relax, now.

Most of them haven't been released yet. But I guess now we know which games to look forward to?

I dont believe them winning was the point of contention, rather that they took a nomination spot.

I was sorta disappointed that Cletus Clay didn't win the Excellence in Visual Arts. I got to play it on the expo floor for the first time and it totally blew me away. The visuals are smooth and clear and funny and awesome in every way.
That isn't to say that machinarium isn't very beautiful and well made, Cletus Clay just struck a chord with me and I was sad not to see it win.

Call me a disgruntled indie, or what have you, but we all know YHTBTR shouldn't have been there in the first place.

Sigh, not this again.
Also there's a perfectly good thread going on in the indie games forum (which is a slightly more appropriate place for it). excuse my moderating, I'm constantly trying to keep the gang garrison forum clean and its become a hard habit to break

I'm just really surprised PJ Eden didn't even win the Audience Award. So surprised that I call this the Greater Surprise of the Evening. Trademarked. I'm also happy Blueberry Garden appears to be as kickass as thought, although it would have been cool if Dyson won something. But then that's true for most nominations, innit.

Second "one man shop" in a row to take it, good stuff. Best of luck to Erik in the future.

I was rooting for The Unfinished Swan. It looked nice and seemed to be able to satisfy my specific desires, much like making love to a beautiful woman.

Congratulations to Erik and Blueberry Garden, that game really deserves it How do you know? (I'm not asking to be a jerk, by the way--I genuinely want to know how you know it deserves to win, given that the game hasn't been released yet.)

I didn't know anything about Blueberry Garden until I saw this thread. Now I am impressed.
Besides the trailer there's a short interview with the dev at the 2008 Swedish game awards site.
