Domino Arena is a four-player party game where you have one minute to paint as many glass dominoes your player color as possible. You can play it single-player or with up to three of your friends online. Domino arena has 20 levels and three difficulty levels. The harder the level, the more points you get on your permanent score.

You can play it on my website at http://gamieon.com/dominoarena/beta/

I need help with testing:

  • Fun factor. Is it fun?
  • Controls. Does the tutorial properly teach you how to play? Is it confusing?
  • Difficulty. Is normal too difficulty, or is easy too easy?
  • Graphics. Do you see the dominoes, or is your video card hiding them?
  • Network. There's a lot of general testing to be done here.
  • Annoyances. Does anything little detail get under your skin or ruin the experience?

Here are some screenshots:

I tried to play it for about 10 minutes.

I didn't really find it fun. Its not always clear which path the dominoes are going to take, and it requires some way of thinking I'm not very good at. I kinda found myself mashing buttons hoping it would work out in my favor. So you could say the difficulty is very high (as I am having hard time playing it properly).

My graphics card displayed dominoes properly. But I didn't like the special effects on the dominoes. That amount of reflections and shininess is just too much for my taste.

I guess the annoyance would be inability to mute sounds.

very difficult to understand whats even happening. I think it should be way more obvious which gates are opened or closed, it would also be good to clearly visualize where a change has been made by the opponent. i think its well executed but it was not fun.

Interesting concept. I could see this being fun eventually.

The tutorial was more fun than the actual game. Dominoes might fit better in a peaceful game than a frantic one. I might be more drawn into a mode where you had to use the gates to make the level match a certain color pattern. For example, if you had a circle with gates at the top and bottom, the goal of the level could be to make the left half red and the right half yellow, by opening and closing the gates at the right time. The competitive mode is too hard to follow visually, although you might go for more of a Super Hexagon approach of totally punishing the player until their brain suddenly changes.

There's too much shiny. You can preserve the neon aesthetic, but tone down the shiny.

The username entry dialog doesn't submit when you press Return.

I dislike the music. It doesn't seem to fit your theme.

I also suggest offering easier difficulty levels with slower speeds so that players can train themselves to predict the dominoes' paths better.

Feedback:

  • Fun factor: 8/10; Yes, totally.
  • Controls: 7/10; Was fair, but I got confused when it said, "Try clicking the open area next to letter B to create a new path." There is only '1' and '2'. I guess, it was A and B before, but was later changed to 1 and 2, but the tutorial text wasn't changed.
  • Difficulty: 9/10; The game gets very confusing early. So many paths, so many dominoes, makes my brain explode.
  • Graphics: 8.5/10; Nice. It would be a nice feature to change appearance.
  • Network: What shall I write here? I only play single-player.
  • Annoyances: Nothing as of now.

I second this. This extra mode would be good.
