I can't really believe I'm posting this, but I am. I was making shitty little examples of how to shred and glitch stuff in game maker at GDC and along the line I decided to have some real fucked up fun. This is what I was calling "Polish Meatboy" as a reference to some of the crazy fucked up polish movie posters I've seen floating around the internet. (stills don't convey the madness) It's not a game by any means, at its absolute best, you can leave it on a friends computer fullscreen (full volume) while they're out and maybe videotape their reaction. Idunno, I just want you to know this isn't meant to be good in any way whatsoever. Here it is http://www.box.net/shared/3y0p4zglquWell'p.. there it was. -A

This is what the negative levels in Super Meat Boy should have been like.

IGF 2012 shoo-in. Amazing!
Seriously though, sound effects would've been better with something at higher freq mixed in to glitch up.

yeah, this whole thing was an act of being lazily creative while milling around GDC. I made the SFX relying only on my laptop speakers too.

So what's going on behind the scenes to get such glitchy awesomeness?

So what's going on behind the scenes to get such glitchy awesomeness?
I reduce the cerebral fluid of a shark in a pan and mix it the marrow of a blind virgin albino woman. I then inject the mixture into my pineal gland (hence, allowing he who waits behind the dead layer of heaven to come through, of course) and then I get out gamemaker, create a series of entities that modify screen angle, background width, image speed, and gravity. Then I link the properties of each item to another one and mangle them with random variables.

Kay, I tried this, but it didn't work.
What kind of shark? (I used tiger.)

Thanks Amon! The game I've been thinking about for after my current project is partly inspired by AOOFAD/Au Sable (among others), so I'll give this a try!

Strange and scary! Would be interesting to think what kind of gameplay could be added to this?

True, lots of room for a real game with this, I just don't have the time right now tho. Working on something else at the moment!

I like what happens when you click. I don't really have anything productive to add here.
I'm alarmed that this is apparently a game it's possible to win and lose. I actually at one point got where the win screen was locked out. Though maybe that was a bug.
